The honest reason most people want a free proxy for Uber Eats is a geographic one: they want to see the menu, the prices or the delivery fees in a country they are not standing in. A student comparing what a burrito costs in Toronto against Madrid, a franchise owner checking the listing in a market they cannot visit, someone about to move who wants to know what delivers to the new flat. Free proxies are country-specific by nature, so the idea is reasonable. What stands between the idea and a loaded storefront is the same front door we measured for DoorDash, plus a country problem free proxies are bad at.
The count, taken on 24 August 2026: 50 HTTP proxies from our own free proxy list, each verified alive and elite minutes earlier, each asked once for ubereats.com. Thirty-nine never completed a connection. Eleven connected and received Cloudflare's "Just a moment..." challenge. None loaded the site. A direct request from an ordinary datacenter server, no proxy involved, drew the same challenge. That is the free-proxy angle in one paragraph; the rest of this page is about the narrow place free still fits, the jobs it never fits, and the safety line. The three jobs, sorted by whether free can touch them
- A logged-out look at another country's storefront. Real, and the only job free comes near, with two conditions covered below.
- Ordering from abroad, reviving a flagged account, reusing a promotion, or running a courier account. Not a proxy job at all, free or paid.
- Collecting menus and prices on a schedule. Real, and free cannot carry it, for a reason you can count.
What the 50 proxies did
The method was plain: one GET each with a normal browser user-agent, a 12-second timeout, all from one server on one evening, plus the direct baseline.
The 39 that never connected are the ordinary cost of free: alive at the check, gone or overloaded by the time you use them. Our free proxy data study, built from 129,131,311 checks across 589,918 tracked proxies, measures that churn in minutes.
The 11 that connected and got the challenge are the Uber Eats lesson. Cloudflare's managed challenge is a JavaScript test served to clients it distrusts, and a datacenter address that thousands of strangers route through is distrusted before the first byte. A bare client cannot pass a JavaScript test, so a working, elite free proxy still returns nothing. The country problem, which is the harder half here
Suppose you set the proxy in a real browser rather than a script. Cloudflare's challenge can pass on a datacenter address when nothing else looks wrong, so a fresh free proxy can sometimes show you one storefront for one address, until it dies. We did not measure the browser case and will not pretend to. But Uber Eats adds a condition DoorDash does not: the exit has to be in the right country, because the address you enter and the network you arrive from should agree, and a Japanese storefront read from a German exit is exactly the mismatch that draws a challenge.
Free proxies are weak at precisely this. The working pool sits overwhelmingly on cloud networks, which means it clusters in a handful of hosting-heavy countries. Live free proxies in the United States and Germany are plentiful; live ones in Denmark, Portugal or Japan are scarce and short-lived. Accounts and orders: not a proxy job
The second group above is large, and the answer does not change with the price of the proxy. Ordering in another market needs a payment method and phone number that market accepts. An account is tied to those and to the app's device signals, so a flagged account stays flagged and a used promotion stays used behind any IP. Courier accounts carry identity and right-to-work checks that an address change never touches. And using a proxy to get around Uber's account or market rules runs against its terms. A proxy that cannot do the job is not worth buying, which is why we say so before the price.
The safety line
An Uber account holds a payment method, a home address and a history of where you have been. A free proxy is a stranger's computer in the path of that traffic. HTTPS protects a login on a clean connection, but a hostile operator can try to strip the connection to plain HTTP or present a fake certificate and count on you clicking past the browser warning. So the rule is short: never log in, never order, never open account settings through a free proxy. Logged-out storefront looks only. The general mechanism is in are free proxies safe.

When the job needs residential
You have crossed the line when you need an exit that is reliably in the right country, stays alive, reads as a household connection to Cloudflare, and can hold a delivery address through a session. That is what residential proxies are, and the country pinning is the part that matters most on this target. Ours are $0.44/GB, pay as you go, no KYC and no expiring balance, so reading one foreign market for an afternoon costs cents.
