Most searches for Pokemon TCG proxies are about proxy cards: printed stand-ins for real cards. Others come from people who want to buy at Pokemon Center and ask about its queue, a VPN or the store in Japan. This page answers both from the official rules and from what the Pokemon sites did to our server. The short answer: events accept a proxy card only from a judge or organizer. Pokemon Center asks you to turn your VPN off, keeps purchase limits, and bars bots.
Proxy cards and the tournament rules
The rules come from the TCG Tournament Handbook of Play! Pokemon, last revised on 1 September 2026. They start from one line: "Only genuine Pokémon Trading Card Game cards may be used at Play! Pokémon events", unless a judge or organizer issues a proxy card. The handbook names the cases.

In each case the player keeps the damaged card, as a reference whenever the proxy is played. Any other proxy is out, because proxies "should be treated as any other counterfeit card if discovered". These rules are for Play! Pokemon events. This page does not answer legal questions about printing cards.
If you buy cards, the Pokemon support team explains how to spot fakes. It says counterfeit cards "are often easy to see through if you hold them up to a bright light". A pack priced far below the suggested retail price is, in its words, "a near certain warning".
Buying at Pokemon Center
The Pokemon Company International runs Pokemon Center websites for the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Its support pages say what the store expects on busy days, and our page on proxies for Pokemon Center covers the store in more depth.
The queue. Pokemon Center "implements a virtual queue for certain products during periods of increased site traffic". Keep the queue window open and do not refresh: "You will be redirected to the site automatically when it is your turn to enter." Extra tabs, other links or "attempting any workarounds will not help you bypass the virtual queue". Also, "Waiting in line does not guarantee product availability".
VPNs. The queue page lists "Refrain from using a VPN." among its steps for technical issues, next to "Only shop within your region." The FAQ for the 30th Celebration products says the same: "Turn off your VPN if you are using one."
Limits and bots. The terms for the US and Canada allow purchases "for personal use". They may limit quantities "per order, per account, per credit card, per person, or per household". They also bar robots and scraping, and any attempt to "bypass or circumvent measures employed to prevent or limit access". The queue page asks you to keep the purchase limits shown on each product page.
Addresses and early access. The 30th Celebration FAQ asks for "your own trusted and accurate address rather than an alternate or forwarding address". The UK store ships only to addresses in the UK. Early Access invitations go to some newsletter subscribers. More subscriptions or email addresses do not raise the odds, and such actions "may result in the invitation being voided".
What Pokemon Center did to our server
We sent plain requests from our server in the United States on 27 September 2026, with a browser user agent and no JavaScript.

The second check says "something about your browser made us think you were a bot". So our plain requests never reached the shop. We did not try to get past the check. The store rules above come from its public help articles and an archived copy of the terms.
Pokemon Center Japan
Pokemon Center Online is the official store in Japan, and it answered our server normally. Its terms, last updated on 13 February 2026, limit delivery to Japan. Its delivery guide says it does not accept deliveries abroad. The same terms bar automatic purchase tools and bots, also for stock information. They bar crawling and scraping, reselling for profit, and several memberships for one person.
So a Japanese IP address changes neither where the store ships nor what it allows. Searches for a Pokemon Center Japan proxy service often mean a buying service in Japan that orders for you. That is a shopping question, not a network one, and this page does not review those services.
TCG Pocket and your Pokemon account
Pokemon TCG Pocket, the mobile game, has its own note on VPNs. The support FAQ ties error 102-002-007 to the network the device uses, and its first step reads: "If you are using a VPN, disable the VPN." It adds: "Note that we do not recommend connecting to a network environment using a VPN." The help page for Pokemon Trainer Central accounts says the same about the website: "connecting through a VPN can often cause issues".
If you use proxies for other work
Nothing on this page routes Pokemon traffic through a proxy. The rules ask for real cards at events, and the store asks you to turn VPNs off. The limits of this page
We read the rules. We did not play at an event, print a card or buy anything. We did not test whether Pokemon Center detects a VPN or a proxy. Our requests ran without JavaScript, so a normal browser may see something else. The Pokemon Center terms come from an archived copy, because the live page answered our server with a bot check. The handbook text also comes from an archived copy, after a second request for the live file got a bot check. That copy has the same date and size as the live file. This page is due for a check by 28 December 2026.
