Decodo is Smartproxy under a new name, and it is trading normally. The new name went live on 22 April 2025, and on 26 September 2026 every smartproxy.com address we tried redirected to decodo.com. Residential costs $4 a gigabyte pay as you go, $3.75 on the smallest monthly plan and $2 on a plan for 1 TB. If you came to replace it, the sourced prices are in the alternatives table.

From Smartproxy to Decodo
Decodo calls itself "the same company, same team, and same infrastructure" as Smartproxy. Its rebrand page dates the official release to 22 April 2025. Accounts, plans and payment history moved over automatically that day, and it says old Smartproxy endpoints "will continue working indefinitely".

Two details matter for old customers. One old address now breaks: the Smartproxy residential pricing address lands on a Decodo page that answers 404, so update any saved link. Decodo also warns about impostors. It says smartproxy.org and smartproxy.cn "are impersonators and are not affiliated with Decodo", and that it runs only on decodo.com and decodo.cn.
What Decodo costs
Every price below is from the residential pricing page of Decodo, read on 26 September 2026. All of them exclude VAT, and they match what we recorded on 10 August 2026.

Pay as you go is the unusual part. At $4 it costs more per gigabyte than every monthly plan, and it buys one gigabyte at a time from a prepaid wallet. It cannot run beside a subscription, and the license agreement lets wallet credits expire after twelve months without use. The pages we read do not say whether unused plan traffic carries into the next month.
Headlines against the tables
The residential headline is honest: "from $2/GB" is a real plan, if you buy 1 TB. The other product lines print headlines that no plan on the same page matches.

The fine print
Refunds have two versions. The refund page allows a first purchase only, within 14 days, under 20 percent of the plan traffic or 1 GB, whichever comes first. It excludes crypto payments, purchases after a free trial and Enterprise plans. The FAQ on the pricing page still shows an older rule, with 10 percent for Enterprise plans and no 1 GB cap. The license agreement points to the refund page.
The trial turns into a plan. The 3-day trial gives 100 MB. When it ends, the chosen plan activates on its own unless you cancel, and the money-back option no longer applies.
Some targets need an ID. Residential proxies block mailing, business and streaming targets by default. They open after ID verification, a document plus a selfie, or after a business form. Decodo does not serve users from Russia or Belarus.
Payment. Decodo takes cards, PayPal, Alipay, Google Pay and Apple Pay, and crypto for every product except ISP and datacenter per IP. Paddle handles the orders as merchant of record.
Session length. The product page says sticky sessions last "minutes to days", while the setup steps in its own pricing FAQ still say "up to 30 min". Ask before you build on the longer figure.
Where the pool comes from
Decodo says it works "with trusted providers, including wholesalers who acquire exit nodes from app users". Its condition is that the users are "reasonably informed, rewarded, and give consent". By its own count, the pool grew from 10M+ in 2019 to 115M+ residential addresses today.
The operator is UAB "Data troops", registered at Švitrigailos str. 34 in Vilnius. Oxylabs is registered at number 32 on the same street. We found no page from either company that names a shared owner. Who owns which proxy and VPN brands is covered in who owns your proxy provider and in NordVPN and Surfshark are the same company.
Where Decodo is stronger
Targeting on every plan. Continent, country, state, city, ZIP code and ASN come with the smallest plan. We do not offer ZIP targeting.
A cheap first step. A free 100 MB trial, a single gigabyte for $4, or 3 GB for $11.25 a month.
Breadth. Dedicated ISP, mobile, datacenter by the GB or by the IP, a site unblocker and scraping APIs sit under one login.
Payment options. PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay sit next to cards and crypto, and PayPal is not on our own list.
Reputation. Trustpilot showed 4.3 of 5 from 1,825 reviews in February 2026, and the rename kept accounts and endpoints working.
Where HProxy differs
We sell residential proxies too, so read this part as the account of a competitor. Every HProxy fact here comes from our own product code.
Any amount, no plan. HProxy sells residential traffic from 1 GB in whatever amount you choose, with no subscription. Our terms give purchased gigabytes no scheduled expiry date, while Decodo pay as you go buys one gigabyte at a time.
ISP targeting on Premium. Our Premium pool targets country, state, city and ISP by AS number. Pinning a network costs nothing extra, the rate is $1.49/GB for one gigabyte, and the networks are listed on the ISP targeting page.
Sessions and UDP. Premium sticky sessions last from 3 minutes to 24 hours, and SOCKS5 lines carry UDP.
No documents to start. We ask for no documents at sign-up or at an ordinary checkout.
Where we are behind. Our Lite pool targets by country only. One gigabyte of Lite costs $0.50, 88 percent less than Decodo pay as you go, but Lite is not the like-for-like product. Premium is, at $1.49/GB for one gigabyte and $1.00/GB from 1,000 GB+, with the steps between in the price table. The side-by-side lives in HProxy vs Decodo.

Oxylabs gives the same targeting on a plan, with traffic that expires monthly, and our Oxylabs review has the detail. DataImpulse and SOAX are the cheapest at volume, and DataImpulse keeps pay as you go at $1 a gigabyte. Bright Data claims the largest pool of the six, 400M+ residential addresses a month. Who Decodo suits
Buy Decodo if you want fine targeting from the first gigabyte and a steady monthly volume between 3 and 100 GB. The subscription ladder is plain, the trial is real, and the rename broke nothing for old accounts.
Look elsewhere if you want to buy more than one gigabyte at a time without a plan. The same goes if you may need a refund after the first gigabyte, or if your targets are mail, streaming or business sites and you will not show an ID. Our verdict
Three and a half out of five. Decodo is a capable platform, fairly priced on its monthly plans, with targeting that SOAX, for one, keeps for its $1,500 plan. It loses points for pay as you go that costs more than any plan and sells one gigabyte at a time. It loses more for headlines its own tables do not reach, and for two refund rules on one site.
Before you commit
Use the trial on your own target before you pay, and cancel it if the plan is not the one you want. Our proxy checker shows whether an address answers, how fast, and from where, whoever sold it.
