Search Console shows 15 impressions in 28 days for this page. Over 90 days, the queries it names are "priceline scraper api", "priceline scraper" and "priceline opaque". Google also suggests searches about the API and its key, about which hotels hide behind Express Deals, about "access denied" and about VPNs. The site gave our server a block page. So this page answers from its terms as the Internet Archive saved them, from its robots.txt and from the guide to its partner API. We read them on 28 September 2026.
The short answer: the terms bar scrapers and AI agents, and any automated attempt to find out which hotel sits behind an Express Deal. The API is for partners who sell Priceline travel.
What the Priceline terms bar
The terms carry no date. The copy we quote is the newest one the Internet Archive held, saved on 3 May 2026. Priceline updates them "by posting a revised version on the Site".
Unless you have "express written permission from Priceline", you may not:
- "Monitor, copy, or reproduce any Content of the Channels using any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means". The clause names "artificial intelligent agents that may act as autonomous proxies for you", and it ends with "or manual process for any purpose".
- "bypass or circumvent other measures employed to prevent or limit access to the Channels", or break the rules in "any robot exclusion headers on the Channels".
- Put "an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure" on the site.
- "Deep-link to any portion of the Channels for any purpose".
The license itself is personal. It covers "legitimate bookings for travel Services for yourself" and for people who gave you permission. It is "not for the purpose of resale, agency/broker use, or other commercial exploitation". The company may suspend or end your use of the site "at any time for any reason with or without notice to you".
The only proxies the terms mention are those AI agents. The text does not mention VPNs.
Express Deals, Pricebreaker and the hidden hotel
These are the opaque deals behind the search "priceline opaque". An Express Deal shows "an unnamed Supplier in your search results". For a hotel, you see its star rating, review score and amenities. A Pricebreaker shows "three named accommodation and/or hotel Suppliers". In both cases, "you will not know which exact Supplier you are booking with until after you complete your booking with us". Deal bookings are "non-cancelable, non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable", unless the checkout says otherwise.
The terms then turn to the tools that try to find the hotel. Any attempt to identify it "through automated means, including but not limited to bots, web scrapers, browser extensions, or third-party services, is strictly prohibited". The terms disown "third-party tools or services that claim to disclose the identity of Suppliers". Using them "may result in the suspension or termination of your account, as well as other legal remedies".
Such tools rank. For "priceline proxy", DuckDuckGo lists a Chrome extension that promises: "Buy with confidence knowing exactly what hotel you are booking." For "priceline scraper", a data seller offers "Express Deals Decoding" to "map potential hotel matches". No proxy changes what the terms say about either.
Is there a Priceline API?
Yes, for partners who sell Priceline travel. The partner site gave our server the same block page, so we know its current words only from search results. There it offers a travel API with deals "including hotels, rental cars, flights and trip protection", under the title "Travel Affiliate Program".
Priceline Partner Network keeps its API docs on GitHub, and the Getting Started guide there was last changed in October 2019. It sets out the path. You first ask the team for a partner account. Then "you will first need to contact your account manager to get access to an API key for your developers". Partners "who are going to sell our travel inventory are required to meet certain display and technical requirements". Before launch, "Priceline must certify and sign off" that they are met.
We found no public API for price data. The results for "priceline scraper api" come from data sellers, not from Priceline.
What robots.txt asks
A robots.txt file tells robots which paths of a site to leave alone. Here, the file asks all robots to stay out of /search/flights, /search/cars, /hotel/searchHotels.do and /l/hotels/express-deals.htm, among many other paths.
Access denied, VPNs and currency
"Access to this page has been denied" is the title of the block page our server got. It asks: "Press & Hold to confirm you are a human (and not a bot)." If that check cannot load, the page asks the visitor to check the connection or turn off an ad-blocker, and it shows a reference ID.
The pages that sell Priceline scraping disagree about what guards the site. One names Shape Security, and two name Akamai Bot Manager. The HTML of the page our server got names PerimeterX.
On VPNs, the terms say nothing. They do say what an IP address changes: "The default transaction currency is usually based on your IP address, and you may also choose the currency you want to transact in." A traveler who wants another currency can simply choose it.
