People who search for FlixBus and proxies ask about its dynamic pricing, why prices change, and the FlixBus API, going by Google autocomplete. This page answers from the FlixBus Online Terms of Use, its Terms and Conditions of Purchase, the Flix company pages and our own requests. We read them on 28 September 2026. The short answer: Flix re-prices its seats every day and sets the currency by the website you buy on. Its terms ban screen scraping for commercial use, and price comparison sites need a written agreement.
How Flix prices its seats
Flix says its tech platform works "By combining network planning, marketing, and pricing". It puts a number on the pricing side: "More than 44 million seats price re-optimized on average every day".
So a FlixBus fare is a moment, not a list price. The same seat can cost more or less from one day to the next.
The currency comes from the website
The FlixBus Terms and Conditions of Purchase, dated 13 July 2026, say the currency "will be determined by the website domain that is used to make the purchase". Before buying, "the website domain/language can be changed in order to pay in a different currency". Once the purchase is done, "the currency cannot be changed".
When our server, which sits in the US, opened global.flixbus.com, it was sent to the US site. So to see another currency, the terms point to the domain and language switch, not to a new address.
What the FlixBus terms say about scraping
The FlixBus Online Terms of Use took effect on 22 February 2023. On use of the site, they say:
- The license is to use the site "solely for your personal use".
- "Non-private or commercial use of the Site and Materials is not permitted."
- "the use of automated systems to extract data from the Site for commercial use (“screen scraping”) is prohibited".
- "If you operate a price comparison website, then you must contact us" and sign a separate written agreement.
The list of banned uses also names monitoring the site "with any deep-link, screen-scrape, robot, crawl, index, spider".
Booking rules
The purchase terms add rules for tickets:
- "The unauthorized resale of tickets is strictly prohibited and will be prosecuted".
- "Ticket sales are limited to nine (9) per purchaser per transaction".
- Every booking must be for "real passengers, with their consent, who intend to travel on all legs of each trip booked".
For a banned booking practice, Flix may cancel the reservation, refuse refunds, and "Prevent or otherwise blacklist the customer from making future bookings". It adds that this "may be accomplished through automated means or processes".
The official routes
For price comparison, the route in the terms is a written agreement with Flix. For selling tickets, Flix runs a partner program with a "Sales partner" track, "For agencies and resellers that want to add FlixBus to their travel solutions". We found no public API documentation: the address developer.flixbus.com gave our server no answer.
What robots.txt covers
The FlixBus robots.txt asks all crawlers to stay out of /track/ride/, /track/station/, /track/order/ and /flux/. Route and search pages are not on the list. The Online Terms of Use still ban screen scraping for commercial use, whatever robots.txt leaves open.

The limits of this page
We did not book a ticket or test a proxy against FlixBus. Our US server got the US site and its US terms, so this page quotes those; the European sites have their own terms, which we did not read. The FlixBus help centre loads by script. This page is due for a check by 28 December 2026.
