Proxies for IHG: Member Rates and a Points-Backed Price Match

Proxies for IHG: why the One Rewards member rate needs a login, how the points-backed Best Price Guarantee makes parity a live question, how prices localize by market, and which residential setup reads it.

Free proxies won't hold up here.

Shared datacenter IPs get flagged and dropped fast. When it has to hold, gaming, streaming, accounts, you need mobile and residential IPs that read as a real device, from $0.44/GB, pay as you go.

IHG is the fourth of the big hotel groups to build its pricing around a single idea: book direct, and we will be cheapest. With more than 6,900 hotels across 100 countries and 18 brands, from Holiday Inn to InterContinental, it offers a One Rewards member rate you only see signed in and backs it with a price guarantee paid in points. That makes reading IHG the same two-layer job as its rivals, the public rate and the member rate, per market, and it makes the guarantee an open invitation to check whether the direct price really is the lowest. Proxies for IHG are the tool for reading both layers the way guests in each market see them.

We run a proxy network, and IHG traffic reaches us from hotel revenue teams, rate-shopping vendors and travel-data teams, usually paired with the other chains. This page covers what is specific to IHG: the member layer, the points-backed guarantee, market localization, how it blocks, which proxy type fits and how to size it. The sibling chains are proxies for Marriott and proxies for Hilton, and the hotel-side buyer's guide is proxies for hotel rate monitoring.

What proxies are best for IHG?

Rotating residential proxies pinned to the market for public rates, and a sticky residential or ISP exit for One Rewards member rates, which need a logged-in session held on one address. IHG localizes by market and defends against bulk automated searching, so a home connection in the right country is both the accuracy rule and the reputation rule. Mobile is the seldom-needed tier for the most defended runs.

The member rate and the points-backed guarantee

IHG's pricing is a direct-booking play with two visible parts. One Rewards members unlock exclusive member rates with savings of up to 10% or more when they book on ihg.com or the app (Milesopedia, IHG One Rewards). Backing the direct price is the Best Price Guarantee: if a lower qualified rate is available on a non-IHG site for an IHG hotel, IHG matches it and gives the claimant 5 times the One Rewards points on the room rate for the stay, up to a 40,000-point maximum (IHG, Best Price Guarantee).

Both parts shape the scraping job. The member rate only exists for a signed-in visitor, so reading it means holding a One Rewards session on one address, per market. And the guarantee is IHG staking a parity claim, which is precisely what a rate-shopping operation checks: is the IHG direct rate actually at or below every OTA rate for the same room and dates, in each market.

Prices localize by market

IHG runs country and language sites and prices by market, so the public rate and currency for a room can differ by where the request appears to come from, the same point-of-sale mechanic the OTAs and the other chains use. Reading the rate a guest in a given market sees, member or public, means exiting from that market.

How IHG blocks you, and the proxy types

ihg.com defends against bulk automated searching the way a large booking site does: datacenter ranges challenged, a repeated hotel-and-dates crawl from one address rate-limited, the member area behind a session, availability loaded dynamically. The reads that survive look like a guest: a home address in the right country, a real browser or clean client, a held session where needed, and a human pace.

Datacenter proxies are challenged early and misread the market; rotating residential proxies pinned to each market are the workhorse (background in what is a residential proxy); ISP holds a One Rewards session.

Free versus paid for IHG

A free proxy is a shared datacenter address, challenged first, and it will not hold a member session. A free proxy occasionally opens a public rate, and our free proxy list and proxy checker are free for that check. For a schedule, and anything logged in, paid residential is the floor; ours starts at $0.44/GB pay-as-you-go with no KYC.

Setting it up

Read public rates on a rotating residential pool, one IP per page, pinned to the market. Read member rates on a sticky ISP session: sign in to One Rewards, hold the address for the session, and label the price as a member rate so it is never compared against a public rate as if they were the same number. Match the same room, occupancy, inclusions and cancellation policy across sites, because those are the fields IHG's guarantee uses to decide whether two rates are comparable. Use a browser where pages need it (Playwright, Puppeteer). The rotation split is in rotating vs static residential proxies.

How many IPs, and how fast

Sizing (rotating residential, one refresh cycle):
public pages = hotels x dates x markets
               = 20 x 60 x 3 = 3,600 pages
member reads = hotels x markets, on a sticky ISP session
per address = a few public pages, then rotate

Refresh near-term dates daily, far dates weekly. The pool spreads it.

Our pricing is per gigabyte with no monthly minimum, so the cost follows the pages you read.

Staying unblocked on IHG

  • Home address in the guest's market. Accuracy and reputation in one rule.
  • Rotate public reads, hold member sessions. A member rate needs one address for the login.
  • Match the room and terms across sites. Same room, occupancy, inclusions, cancellation, or the parity check is meaningless.
  • Carry cookies within a session, drop them with the IP.
  • Pace like a guest. The checklist is in avoiding IP bans while scraping.

The limits worth knowing

Proxies put an IHG read on the right market and let a member session hold on one address, and they spread a schedule so the site sees guests. They do not give you a member rate without a One Rewards account, they do not create a public API IHG does not offer, and they do not change IHG's terms. Read the member and public layers as separate prices, match the room and terms the way the guarantee does, and the parity picture is honest.

A one-off look at a public rate is free through our free proxy list and proxy checker. For a schedule, rotating residential at $0.44/GB pay-as-you-go per market, with a static ISP exit for the member layer, is what reads IHG.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of proxy is best for IHG?
Rotating residential proxies pinned to the market whose rate you want for public prices, and a sticky residential or ISP exit for One Rewards member rates, which need a logged-in session held on one address. IHG localizes by market and defends against bulk automated searching, so datacenter ranges do not last on a schedule. Mobile is rarely needed.
Why does IHG show a lower rate when I sign in?
Because the One Rewards member rate is a separate price for signed-in members who book direct, saving up to 10% or more, part of IHG's push to move bookings to ihg.com and the app. IHG backs the direct price with a Best Price Guarantee: book direct, find a lower qualified rate elsewhere, and IHG matches it and gives 5 times the One Rewards points on the room rate, up to a 40,000-point cap. Reading the member rate means holding a logged-in session on one address, per market.
How does IHG's Best Price Guarantee relate to rate shopping?
It is the parity question, points-backed. IHG is asserting that its direct rate is the lowest and inviting guests to prove otherwise. That is exactly what a rate-shopping operation automates: the IHG direct rate against every OTA rate for the same room and dates, per market. Where the OTA is cheaper, that is a guest's claim and a hotel's finding.
How many proxies do I need to scrape IHG?
Size from search pages, not properties: hotels times dates times markets for public rates, plus a logged-in pass per market for member rates. Keep each residential IP to a few pages, rotate public reads, hold member sessions on a sticky exit, and pace the schedule.

Proxies that don't die mid-job

Residential, ISP, datacenter and mobile, verified by the same engine that runs tens of millions of checks. They read as a real device and hold up under load. Pay as you go, and your balance never expires. $0.44/GB is the 2,000 GB+ rate; a single gigabyte is $0.50/GB, with no minimum order.
