LunaProxy.com: who ran it, its Hong Kong companies and its end

LunaProxy was a residential proxy seller at lunaproxy.com from August 2022 to early 2026. Its terms named HONGKONG GUANGLING MDT INFOTECH LIMITED in 2023 and ROME BELDEN LIMITED from 2024, both at one address in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Its trademarks and its Chrome extension were in the name of a third company, MARS BROTHERS LIMITED, which also filed marks for PIA S5 Proxy. On 28 January 2026 Google listed "Luna Proxy", at lunaproxy.com, among brands it said were controlled by the actors behind the IPIDEA proxy network. The archive's last copy of the site is from January 2026, and since March 2026 the domain has been on hold. The record follows, oldest first. Our LunaProxy graveyard page covers what to use instead.

A solid marker is a record we read in a registry, an archive or a public database, Google's post among them. A hollow marker stands for what LunaProxy said about itself.

Before 2022: a callshop with the same name

The domain had an earlier life. In December 2016 and May 2017 the archive caught lunaproxy.com as a small Weebly site for a callshop. It described "Luna Proxy" as "a free program" for "voice communications", and listed calling cards and callback services. By September 2017 the address showed only an error page. No record ties that site to the proxy seller of 2022.

2022: a new domain and a residential proxy shop

Verisign's registry dates the current registration of lunaproxy.com to 26 August 2022, through the registrar Aceville Pte. Ltd., with Alibaba's name servers. The archive's first copy of the shop, of 31 August 2022, still carried a website template's line: "Copyright © 2022 Superio. All Right Reserved." It offered a "$2 trial plan", claimed "90 million residential IPs" in "over 195 locations", and promised a "Legal and ethical proxy", "sourced legally and ethically".

By October 2022 the headline was "$0.8/GB to get 1TB plan", and the footer named a company: "HONGKONG GUANGLING MDT INFOTECH LIMITED".

The companies in its terms

The terms archived in April 2023 end with "Company:HONGKONG GUANGLING MDT INFOTECH LIMITED" and "Address:FLAT/RM 401 4/F WANCHAI CENTRAL BUILDING 89 LOCKHART ROAD WAN CHAI HK". They choose "the laws of HK". OpenCorporates lists Hongkong Guangling Mdt InfoTech Limited as company number 2746103, live, with the Chinese name 香港廣靈信息科技有限公司.

The company line of the LunaProxy terms and privacy policy in four versions, from April 2023 to January 2026.
Who the LunaProxy terms name, from Internet Archive copies of its terms and privacy policy

In October 2023 the terms kept the address and dropped the company line. By July 2024 they named "ROME BELDEN LIMITED" at the same address, and they did so until the last copy, of November 2025. The privacy policy "Effective Date: September, 2025" opens with "Roma Belden Ltd. recognizes the importance of your privacy" and ends with "Company: ROME BELDEN LIMITED". OpenCorporates holds no ROME BELDEN LIMITED.

That last privacy policy also added a rule: "you are required to undergo static real-name authentication before using our services". It cited "national cybersecurity regulations" without naming the nation.

Names hidden in the page

The homepage moved its company line out of sight in steps. The Guangling name was visible in October 2022 and March 2023. In July 2023 it sat inside an HTML comment, text that a browser does not show. From October 2023 to January 2026 the comment read "ROME BELDEN LIMITED" instead.

Mars Brothers: the marks and the extension

The brand's trademarks name another company. China's office registered two LUNAPROXY marks filed on 28 October 2022 by 火星兄弟有限公司, which reads Mars Brothers Limited in Chinese. In April 2024 MARS BROTHERS LIMITED filed LunaProxy marks in Brazil and Vietnam.

In the United States the same company filed twice for the word LUNA on 19 October 2024, from "290-296 UN CHAU ST CHEUNG SHA WAN KL". One filing was abandoned on 30 June 2025 after the owner did not answer the office; the other was still suspended in May 2026. The US office lists seven more marks of Mars Brothers, among them PIAS5, PIAPROXY, PIA PROXY MANAGER and IP CHANGER CLIENT.

The Chrome Web Store copy of February 2024 lists the "LunaProxy Extension" as offered by LunaProxy, with MARS BROTHERS LIMITED as its developer and the e-mail support@lunaproxy.com. It had 324 users then, and 1,000 in the copy of 10 February 2026.

The two brands pointed at each other. LunaProxy's homepage linked to piaproxy.com in April and November 2023. PIA S5 Proxy's homepage linked to lunaproxy.com in January 2024 and May 2025, with tags such as "utm-source=pia". Our PIA S5 Proxy company page tells that brand's story.

What the homepage promised and charged

The pool grew on paper. The first page claimed 90 million residential IPs. An answer on the homepage in March 2023 spoke of "our entire network of over 400 million residential IPs". From July 2023 the page title read "Over 200 Million IPs", and it kept that figure until January 2026. In 2025 the page called them "200M+ ethically procured residential proxies".

The headline price stayed in a narrow band: $0.80 a GB in October 2022, $0.70 in October 2023 and $0.77 through 2024 and 2025. The last copy, of 3 January 2026, offered "residential proxy $0.65/GB".

January 2026: Google names the brand

On 28 January 2026 Google's Threat Intelligence Group wrote that it had taken action against "the IPIDEA proxy network". It said that "many well-known residential proxy brands are not only related but are controlled by the actors behind IPIDEA", and listed "Luna Proxy", with the domain lunaproxy.com, among them.

Its list of actions begins: "Took legal action to take down domains used to control devices and proxy traffic through them". It adds that Google acted against "the domains used to market IPIDEA's products". Its list of file indicators includes a program labelled "Luna Proxy Client". It also lists two code-signing identities in the name of MARS BROTHERS LIMITED, one in Kowloon and one in Cheung Sha Wan.

These are Google's findings. We found no court record that names LunaProxy, and Google's posts do not say when each brand's site went down.

2026: the end of the site

The archive's last copy of the homepage is of 3 January 2026, and of the privacy policy 24 January 2026. Verisign's record for lunaproxy.com shows the status "client hold", last changed at 03:01:21 UTC on 5 March 2026. The record for piaproxy.com shows the same status, changed nine seconds later. On 14 October 2026 the name did not resolve at all.

People kept looking for it. Google's Keyword Planner counts searches for "lunaproxy" rising to 14,800 in February 2026, then falling to 2,400 by August 2026.

The registry facts are weaker. lunaproxy.com and piaproxy.com used the same Alibaba name servers, and they went on hold nine seconds apart. Name servers serve many customers, so this shows a shared setup, and nothing about owners. Our page inside the IPIDEA cluster maps the wider group of brands.

LunaProxy in court and in filings

We found no court case that names LunaProxy. The Free Law Project's RECAP collection of US federal court records at the Internet Archive listed nothing on 14 October 2026 under LunaProxy, Mars Brothers, Rome Belden, Guangling or IPIDEA. Google wrote that it took legal action, and we could not read that case in a source open to us.

The filings that do exist are trademark files: the Chinese, Brazilian and Vietnamese LunaProxy marks and the two US LUNA applications, all from Mars Brothers.

What LunaProxy sold, in short

In its last year LunaProxy sold residential traffic by the gigabyte and unlimited residential plans by the day, with ISP and datacenter proxies on the side. The homepage headline read $0.77 a GB through 2025 and $0.65 in January 2026. In 2023 its terms said: "Do not use the account registered on this site to conduct profit-making business activities". The service no longer exists, and neither does its site.

What customers reported

The archive holds three copies of LunaProxy's Trustpilot page, all from March and April 2025. They show 3.8 from 136 reviews on 17 March, 3.8 from 141 on 19 April and 3.7 from 130 on 25 April. No copy exists from after Google's post, and we did not read the live page.

Was LunaProxy legit?

It traded for about three and a half years under names that kept changing. Its terms named one Hong Kong company, then none, then another, while its marks and its browser extension named a third. Its company line moved from the footer into hidden page code. Google named the brand among those it says IPIDEA's actors control, and the site went dark the same quarter. No court record we could read names LunaProxy.

If you are looking elsewhere

  • If you want a seller whose company you can find, look for one name that stays the same in the terms, the footer and the marks. HProxy's terms name Obsidian UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a company under German law.
  • If you need a small amount of residential traffic, HProxy's Lite costs $0.50/GB even for a single gigabyte, with no plan. The LunaProxy graveyard page lists other sellers.
  • If you are left with proxies from somewhere else, our free proxy checker tests HTTP and SOCKS proxies from any seller before you rely on them.

What we could not find out

  1. Who owned the three companies. OpenCorporates shows Guangling MDT as live and nothing for Rome Belden or this Mars Brothers; we did not buy register extracts.
  2. Whether the companies were one group. The address, the marks and the extension tie them to the brand, and no record we read ties them to each other.
  3. What the legal action was. Google's posts mention it, and no court record open to us names LunaProxy.
  4. Exactly when the site stopped. The archive's last copy is from January 2026, and the hold is dated 5 March 2026.
  5. Where its residential IPs came from. Its pages said "ethically procured", and Google wrote that the brands it listed are controlled by the actors behind IPIDEA.

We bought nothing and tested no LunaProxy proxy: our rule is to read and never to buy. The domain is on hold, and the record could still change. We will look at it again by 14 January 2027.
