SOCKS5 proxy checkertest any SOCKS5 proxy, free

Paste or drop a list and this tool opens a real SOCKS5 handshake through every proxy, with your login when the line carries one. You get working or dead per line, plus anonymity, country, network and speed, streaming in as each answers. No account, no install.

The test

A real SOCKS5 tunnel, not just an open port

An open port is not a working proxy. The only honest SOCKS5 test is to complete the handshake and relay a real request, which is what this does for every line you paste.

01

Complete the handshake

We open a real SOCKS5 handshake through your proxy, sending your username and password when the line carries them, exactly as any SOCKS5 client would.

02

Relay a real request

Through the tunnel we reach a live endpoint, so a proxy that opens the port but never actually forwards traffic is caught rather than passed.

03

Read the whole profile

Back comes SOCKS5 confirmed, plus anonymity, country, network and latency, streaming in per proxy as each one answers.

Why SOCKS5

What SOCKS5 doesthat HTTP cannot

SOCKS5 is the protocol most people actually want, and it is worth knowing why. Four of these are things an HTTP proxy simply cannot do.

SOCKS5 features

Any TCP traffic

SOCKS5 is a low-level tunnel. It carries any TCP connection, not only web requests, which is why it works for tools that are not browsers.

Username and password auth

Unlike SOCKS4, SOCKS5 can authenticate, so a paid proxy stays yours instead of being open to anyone who finds the address.

IPv6

SOCKS5 speaks IPv6, so it reaches and exits from v6 addresses that SOCKS4 simply cannot touch.

Remote DNS

It resolves names at the proxy rather than on your machine, so your DNS lookups do not leak where you are before the proxy even connects.

UDP, when it is turned on

SOCKS5 is the only common protocol that can relay UDP, through UDP ASSOCIATE. Most proxies disable it, so if you need UDP, confirm it with the UDP proxy checker.

Questions

SOCKS5 proxy FAQ

The things people actually ask about SOCKS5, answered against what the checker does. If yours is not here, the live chat on this page reaches the people who run the network.

What is a SOCKS5 proxy checker?

A tool that tests whether a proxy actually speaks SOCKS5 and works. This one completes a real SOCKS5 handshake through each proxy, relays a live request, and reports whether it connected, how fast, where it exits, which network owns it, and how much of your identity it leaks. Free, no account.

How do I check if a SOCKS5 proxy works?

Paste it above and run the check. The tool is set to probe SOCKS5 only, so it opens a genuine SOCKS5 tunnel, with your username and password if the line has them, and confirms the proxy relays traffic rather than just accepting a connection. You get a working or dead verdict with the full profile behind it.

What is the difference between a SOCKS5 and an HTTP proxy?

An HTTP proxy understands web requests and little else, so it is easy for a site to spot and it cannot carry non-web traffic. SOCKS5 is a lower-level tunnel: it carries any TCP connection, supports authentication and IPv6, and can resolve DNS remotely. For anything beyond plain web scraping, SOCKS5 is usually what you want.

What does user:pass mean on a SOCKS5 proxy?

It is the login for an authenticated proxy. SOCKS5 supports a username and password so a paid endpoint is not left open to the world. This checker accepts every common format, host:port:user:pass and user:pass@host:port among them, and uses the credentials during the handshake so authenticated proxies test correctly.

Is a SOCKS5 proxy anonymous?

SOCKS5 does not add the proxy headers that give an HTTP proxy away, but anonymity still depends on the specific proxy. This checker grades every one as elite, anonymous or transparent from the headers it actually forwards, so you see whether a given SOCKS5 proxy keeps your address to itself or leaks it.

Does SOCKS5 support UDP?

It can, through the UDP ASSOCIATE command, and it is the only common proxy protocol that does. In practice most SOCKS5 proxies disable UDP because an open relay is a DDoS risk. If UDP is what you need, run the proxy through the dedicated UDP proxy checker, which sends a real datagram and confirms the relay actually carries it.

Want SOCKS5 that stays clean?Stop re-testing free lists.

Free SOCKS5 lists are shared, and shared means they decay from the moment they are posted. If you need addresses that stay working, the fix is a pool that is not handed out from under you.
