An HTTP proxy understands web requests and little else, so it is easy for a site to spot and it cannot carry non-web traffic. SOCKS5 is a lower-level tunnel: it carries any TCP connection, supports authentication and IPv6, and can resolve DNS remotely. For anything beyond plain web scraping, SOCKS5 is usually what you want.

It is the login for an authenticated proxy. SOCKS5 supports a username and password so a paid endpoint is not left open to the world.
