HTTP proxy checkertest HTTP and HTTPS proxies, free

Paste or drop a list and this tool sends a real request through every proxy, and opens a CONNECT tunnel to test HTTPS on the same endpoint. You get working or dead per line, plus anonymity, country, network and speed, streaming in as each answers. No account, no install.

The test

A real request,and a real tunnel

An open port is not a working proxy. The only honest HTTP test is to send a genuine request, and for HTTPS to open the CONNECT tunnel a browser would, which is what this does for every line.

01

Send a real request

We route a genuine HTTP request through your proxy to an endpoint we control, so we read exactly what arrives, not just whether the port is open.

02

Open a CONNECT tunnel

For HTTPS we ask the same proxy to CONNECT-tunnel to a secure endpoint, the way a browser does, so both halves of an HTTP proxy are tested in one pass.

03

Read the whole profile

Working or dead, plus anonymity, country, network and latency, streaming in per line as each proxy answers.

The short answer

HTTP, HTTPS,and where they stop

HTTP and HTTPS are usually the same proxy, and knowing that saves you testing two lists. What an HTTP proxy cannot do is the part worth knowing before you pick one.

HTTP and HTTPS

Plain HTTP

The proxy forwards ordinary web requests over TCP. Simple and fast for scraping pages, and the easiest kind for a site to notice.

HTTPS with CONNECT

The same proxy opens an encrypted tunnel with the CONNECT method, so your traffic stays private from the proxy operator. Any HTTP proxy worth using does both, which is why this page tests both.

What it cannot do

An HTTP proxy carries web traffic only. For non-web TCP, for UDP, or for tools that are not browsers, you want a SOCKS5 proxy instead.

Questions

HTTP proxy FAQ

The things people actually ask about HTTP and HTTPS proxies, answered against what the checker does. If yours is not here, the live chat on this page reaches the people who run the network.

What is an HTTP proxy checker?

A tool that tests whether an HTTP or HTTPS proxy actually works. This one sends a real request through each proxy and, for HTTPS, opens a CONNECT tunnel through the same endpoint, then reports status, speed, anonymity, country and network per line. Free, no account.

How do I check an HTTP or HTTPS proxy?

Paste it above and run the check. The tool is set to probe HTTP and HTTPS, so it makes a genuine request and opens a real tunnel rather than just pinging the port. You get a working or dead verdict with the full profile behind it, streaming in as each proxy answers.

What is the difference between an HTTP and an HTTPS proxy?

They are usually the same proxy. HTTP means it forwards plain web requests; HTTPS means that same proxy can also open an encrypted CONNECT tunnel so the traffic inside stays private. A proxy that does one almost always does the other, which is why this page tests them together rather than pretending they are separate products.

Is an HTTP proxy anonymous?

It depends on the proxy, and an HTTP proxy is the easiest kind to give itself away, because it can add headers like X-Forwarded-For that carry your real IP. This checker grades every proxy elite, anonymous or transparent from the headers it actually forwards, so you see whether a given HTTP proxy leaks you or not.

HTTP proxy or SOCKS5, which should I use?

For plain web scraping, an HTTP proxy is simple and fine. For anything else, non-web traffic, tools that are not browsers, remote DNS, or UDP, SOCKS5 is the better tunnel. If your list is SOCKS, run it through the SOCKS5 proxy checker instead, which probes that protocol directly.

Why does my HTTP proxy work but HTTPS does not?

Some proxies forward plain HTTP but refuse the CONNECT method that HTTPS needs, so they answer on one and fail on the other. This checker tests both, so a proxy that is HTTP only shows up as exactly that instead of a flat pass or fail.

After the check

Want proxies that stay up?Stop re-testing free lists.

A free HTTP list is a snapshot that decays from the moment it is posted, because everyone who found it is hammering the same addresses. If you need proxies that keep working, the fix is a pool that is not shared out from under you.
