Proxycat no longer answers. We re-checked it the day this page was written, over three routes, and nothing came back. The record of the years before that is below.
When the lights went out
We tried three routes to it on 9 September 2026 and all three failed (ENOTFOUND). Nothing is listening.
The last working page the archive caught was in June 2023, out of 6 good snapshots. Coverage is not continuous, so read it as roughly when.
What the last capture shows
Archived June 2023, the page called itself "Proxy Cat". Its search snippet read: "Web site created using create-react-app"
Read it as the pitch rather than the product. Its value is that the Internet Archive holds it independently of us and of them, so anyone can check the quotation.
What they sold
The archive first captured a working page in October 2018.
The public record holds that much. It shows a company that was real and shipping, and nothing about how well.
Related names
We also track the same brand at proxycat.ga, proxycat.gq, proxycat.ml, proxycat.tk. Where a shutdown leaves sibling domains behind, they are worth checking before assuming everything stopped.
We stop short of a cause deliberately. The registration and archive trail shows when things stopped and nothing about why, and the difference between those two claims is the difference between a fact and a defamation.

Where former customers end up
If you still have money or traffic sitting with them, the realistic options are a chargeback if the payment is recent enough for your card scheme, and a written record of what you paid for. Prepaid balances with a company that has stopped answering are rarely recovered any other way.
Choosing a replacement: weight the terms as heavily as the price. A balance that expires and a large minimum top-up are the two features that turn a shutdown into a real loss.
