Talkie is not banned. On 27 September 2026 its Android app, "Talkie: Creative AI Community", was listed on Google Play in the US and had been updated five days before. Its iPhone app now goes by Talkie Lab, and Apple listed it in 39 of the 44 App Store storefronts we checked, though not in India, Bangladesh, Morocco, China or Taiwan. The web app at talkie-ai.com answered our server normally. Below are the record with dates, the prices, how Talkie takes a proxy, and what its terms say about one.

In 2024 the South China Morning Post reported that users in the US who already had the app could still use it. For the 2026 gap, we found no statement from Talkie, and the guide that reports it gives a reason we could not verify.
Where the apps are listed today
We asked Apple directly: one request per storefront to the public App Store lookup service, 44 storefronts, from our own server on 27 September 2026. No account and no app were involved.

A store listing is not the same as an account that works. Talkie publishes no list of the countries where accounts are allowed. We read Google Play only from a US address, so its listing elsewhere is not part of this test.

How Talkie takes a proxy
Talkie has no proxy setting of its own, in the apps or on the web. The route depends on where you use it.
On the web, talkie-ai.com follows your browser, and Chrome uses the proxy of the system it runs on. The Chromium documentation adds two limits. First: "No authentication methods are supported for SOCKSv5 in Chrome". Second, Chrome ignores a user name and password typed into the system settings: "Proxy authentication will instead go through the ordinary flow to find credentials", which means Chrome asks you itself. In Chrome, then, use an HTTP line, and type its user name and password when the prompt appears. Our Chrome guide shows where the settings live.
On a phone, the app follows the Wi-Fi proxy. An iPhone takes a server, a port and an optional user name and password. Android takes a host and a port with no password, and apps outside its two built-in HTTP stacks have to read the setting themselves. Neither covers mobile data, because each belongs to one Wi-Fi network. Our iPhone and Android guides walk through the screens.
With our lines, HTTP works in all three places. Where there is nowhere to type a password, a Residential Premium plan lets up to 150 addresses connect without one.
What the terms say about proxies
Talkie put its position in writing. Its terms, updated 23 April 2025, say: "If you are blocked by Talkie from accessing the Services (including by blocking your IP address), you agree not to implement any measures to circumvent such blocking". The examples they give are masking your IP address and using a proxy IP address. The same terms forbid data mining, robots and scraping, and they set the minimum age at 14, or 15 or 16 in the countries they list.
That settles the "talkie unblocked" question for a block Talkie placed: a proxy against it breaks the terms, and we do not sell for it. A block on a school or office network is the rule of whoever runs that network, and we give no steps for getting around it either.
What an IP address changes, and what it does not
Talkie reads more than your country. Its privacy policy lists "browser, IP address, device and cookie identifiers, language settings, mobile device carrier, and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area." It does not say how it decides who may use an account.
The store you see is a setting of your Apple Account, not of your address; Apple keeps a page on changing that country. Our own server, a datacenter address in the US, got the ordinary page from talkie-ai.com with no challenge, and no sign of Cloudflare in the reply. That is one address at one moment, and it says nothing about signing in.

Where a proxy fits
A proxy fits when you choose to route your own traffic through one: for privacy on public Wi-Fi, because your company sends its devices through a proxy, or to give your own account the same exit every day. Our residential lines start at $0.44 per GB, and Premium, with city and ISP targeting and password-free access for allowed addresses, starts at $1.00 per GB. The free proxy checker shows which country an address reports before you rely on it. Free proxies are the wrong tool for a logged-in companion account, for the reasons in are free proxies safe.

What this page does not cover
We did not install Talkie, under our rule against running third-party software on our workstation, so we did not see whether its apps follow a phone proxy. We read Google Play from a US address only. The 2026 gap rests on one third-party guide, and Talkie documents no rules for who is eligible. We will check the listings again by 27 December 2026.
