Proxies for BGMI carry a lot of hope that a proxy cannot deliver, so this page starts by being clear about it. Battlegrounds Mobile India is a country-specific game: Krafton built it for the Indian market after the original was banned, and it runs on Indian infrastructure by design. Players outside India often want a proxy to play it, and players inside India sometimes want one for privacy or for accounts. The honest split is that a proxy never carries the mobile match, cannot legitimately turn a foreign player into an Indian one, and does its real work only on the account and web side of the game.
BGMI's story, a ban, a ten-month absence, and a return under new terms, is part of why the region lock is firm, and understanding it explains what a proxy can and cannot do. This page covers the ban and return, the region lock, why the match is UDP, the account-side jobs a proxy genuinely helps, and the line worth respecting.
What proxies are best for BGMI?
For the account and web side within India, residential proxies pinned to India and held sticky, set at the phone's operating-system level, or an ISP proxy (static residential) for an account you use daily. Datacenter only for reaching the account on a blocked network. No proxy type carries the mobile match, which is UDP, none lowers your ping, and using a proxy to play BGMI from outside India is neither effective for the actual gameplay nor within Krafton's terms. A proxy is a web-side tool here, not a border crossing.
The ban, the return, and why the region lock is firm
BGMI's region lock is not an arbitrary setting; it is the shape of the game's history. The Indian government banned Battlegrounds Mobile India in July 2022 under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, over data and security concerns connected to the game's servers and its ties to the wider PUBG Mobile ecosystem. Krafton removed it from stores and worked with regulators, and the game returned after roughly ten months, with the unban landing around late May 2023. The version that came back runs on local infrastructure and carries compliance measures such as playtime limits for younger players.
That history is why BGMI is a distinct, India-facing product rather than a region of a global game, and why appearing to be in India through a proxy does not make an account belong there. The ban was a government and platform action, not an IP-level block on individuals, so a proxy neither caused nor cures any part of it. What a proxy can influence is narrower and entirely web-side.

A proxy's role
web and account side only, never the match
The match is mobile UDP, so a proxy carries the web side only
BGMI is a real-time mobile battle royale, and real-time games send their gameplay over UDP. A proxy pulled from a list carries only TCP, so on a phone a proxy set at the operating-system level routes the app's web traffic, sign-in, the store, events, and leaves the actual match connecting direct from your real address. A player abroad who routes the app through an Indian proxy does not get their gameplay carried through it; the match still connects from where they are, and the proxy only ever touched the web calls. This is also why a proxy cannot lower BGMI ping: it adds a hop it cannot even use for the match. The mobile setting only changes where you configure a proxy, covered in our Android and iPhone guides. The same UDP limit applies to the global game in proxies for PUBG.
What a proxy does help
Within India and with an Indian exit, a proxy does the ordinary account-side jobs. It keeps more than one account off a single shared address, which matters because platforms can group accounts that share a connection. And it reaches the game's account and store on a network that blocks them, tunnelled on the web side. Both use an address that matches where the account belongs, and neither pretends a foreign player is Indian. That is the honest envelope for a BGMI proxy, and it is worth keeping inside it.
Why people use proxies for BGMI
- Keeping accounts separate within India. More than one account that should not share an address, kept apart so a flag on one does not reach the rest. Account trading and boosting are against the terms on any address.
- Reaching the account on a blocked network. A dorm, school, or office block on the game's account or store, tunnelled on the web side. A free proxy can do this one.
- Playing from outside India, which does not work and is against the terms. The match is UDP a proxy cannot carry, and faking an Indian location runs against Krafton's terms for a market-specific game.
- Lowering ping or beating a ban, neither of which a proxy does. The match is UDP, and bans read the account.
Which proxy type fits BGMI
Residential proxies are real home connections, pinned to India and held sticky, so an account sign-in reads as an ordinary player where the account belongs. If the category is new, what is a residential proxy covers the sourcing in full.
ISP proxies are static residential by design: one fixed Indian address for an account you sign into daily, so the login stays consistent.
Datacenter proxies are cheap and fast and distrusted at login, so keep them off the account and on the blocked-network job.
Mobile proxies are carrier IPs shared across handsets, more tier than this job requires.
| BGMI job | Proxy type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Several accounts on one network, in India | Residential or ISP, India, one IP each | Breaks address-based grouping |
| An account signed into daily | ISP (static residential), India | One clean, consistent sign-in |
| Reaching the account on a blocked network | Datacenter or free | Only the block matters |
| The match, ping, playing from abroad, or a ban | None | UDP, terms-bound market, account-based bans |
How to set it up
The setup is a phone job, web-side only, and it belongs inside India. Set a residential or ISP proxy at the operating-system level (our Android and iPhone guides cover the platforms), with a sticky Indian exit, for account work and sign-ins. Hold the same address for an account you keep. Verify the exit first with our proxy checker: country and stability, since a dropped proxy in the middle of an account action is a nuisance and a distant exit only adds to your ping.
Account side (sticky, India, at OS level):
main account -> 198.51.100.160 ISP, India, held
second account -> residential sticky, India, held
Never:
a proxy expected to carry the match from abroad (mobile UDP, it will not)
a proxy used to fake an Indian location for a market-locked game (against terms)
How many IPs, sticky versus rotating
One sticky Indian address per account, held indefinitely. There is no throughput or rotation case, because the match never rides a proxy. BGMI's account traffic is small, so the cost is in addresses rather than data, and our pricing is pay-as-you-go with a balance that does not expire.
Free versus paid for BGMI
A free proxy can get the game's account or store past a dorm or office block, and a dead one is replaced in seconds. Our free proxy list re-checks itself every few minutes across 100+ countries including India, and the proxy checker confirms an entry first. Never sign into an account through a free proxy: it is a datacenter address that draws scrutiny, dies within minutes, and passes your login through an operator you do not know; the mechanism is in are free proxies safe. Paid residential at $0.44/GB pay-as-you-go with no KYC covers the account side, and ISP addresses at $2.70/IP suit an account you keep, both with an Indian exit.
Where a proxy stops and Krafton starts
On BGMI a proxy works on the account and web side inside India: it keeps accounts off a shared address and reaches the account on a blocked network. It does not carry the mobile UDP match, lower ping, or turn a player outside India into one inside it, and BGMI is a market-specific game whose terms a foreign proxy exit runs against. Its ban and return were government and platform decisions, not IP blocks, and a proxy touches none of that. Cheating, boosting, and ban evasion break the terms on any address.
For reaching the account on a blocked network, start free with the free proxy list and the proxy checker. For keeping the accounts you play, an ISP address in India, or clean residential at $0.44/GB pay-as-you-go held sticky, is what holds. Keep the exit where the account belongs, hold it, and let the match connect the way the game built it.
