Buy a Residential Proxy for Italy: Networks, Payment and Prices

An Italian IP belongs to an Italian internet provider, and a residential proxy lets your traffic leave through one of its customer lines. Italian stores then quote you their local prices, Google ranks Italian results first, and you see the ads that run in Italy.

The registry makes Italy look spread out, with a record named Vodafone Italy as the largest at 16.9%. The routing data shows one company far ahead: Telecom Italia's networks announce 41.1% of the country's IPv4 addresses, under six record names. Seller pools equal 8.0% of the 54 million at most. And all 11 working free Italian proxies on our list were flagged on October 26, 2026. Our residential proxies target Italy at $0.50/GB for one GB.

Which networks does an Italian IP come from?

RIPE NCC, the internet registry for Europe, keeps a file of every block it hands out, with the holder's country. With records to October 24, 2026, it lists 54,015,360 IPv4 addresses for Italy, in 3,717 blocks held by 1,339 holders. Record names such as TIN or IUNET say little, so we asked RIPEstat which network announces each block of the 13 largest records:

22.2 million
FastwebVodafone Italy and Fastweb blocks, 16.6%

Telecom Italia's share sits under six names. The TIN record, whose remark names the company's E@sy.ip ADSL service, holds 7.9 million, and the Interbusiness record 7.8 million. TIWS, TIM, Datacom and TIIPTV add the rest, 22,200,576 in all.

The largest single record, 9,127,936 addresses, opens with a block named Vodafone Italy. RIPEstat lists both networks that announce its blocks under Fastweb SpA. WIND TRE announces the two IUNET records and its own, 7.8 million together. Names drift lower down too: RIPEstat lists the networks behind BT Italy's record under Retelit-X.

Past the big three, the long tail is thin. 1,201 holders with 16,384 addresses or fewer share just 5.0% of the space. Our Italy proxies page lists 157 networks for Residential Premium, Telecom Italia, Fastweb and Iliad Italia among them, in 936 cities across 21 regions.

IPv6 is still the minority there. APNIC Labs measured 19.6% of Italian users as IPv6-capable in the 30 days to October 23, 2026. A year earlier the share was 17.1%, and in October 2020 it was 4.2%.

What share of Italy do sellers' pools cover?

A small one. We read five sellers' Italy pages through our server on October 26, 2026, and set each number against the registry's 54 million:

Advertised Italy pools as a share of Italy's IPv4

Bright Data's page carries two counts: 1,616,107 in the title and 404,026 Italy IPs in the text, a quarter of the first.

A pool number depends on what it counts and over what window. Oxylabs puts 3,634,314 at the top of a page about residential and mobile IPs. Its text speaks of "over 2 million IP addresses in Italy". DataImpulse's counters showed 40,851 unique Italian IPs in 24 hours, 429,286 in 30 days and 17,210 active at once. Its 30-day count is 24.9 times the live one.

Large markets look like this. In our Germany guide, no advertised pool passes 5.0% of the registry. In Indonesia, three pass 30%. We do not publish our own pool size per country.

What changes with an Italian IP?

The sites you check answer as they would answer someone in Italy. Google's help page says "IP addresses are roughly based on geography" and that location "helps to show you nearby results". Residential Lite sets the country at the lowest rate. Residential Premium goes down to one city, and only 6 countries have a longer city list in our pool.

Proxy traffic still meets each site's own rules. MaxMind, which sells IP data to sites, keeps a residential proxy flag in its Anonymous IP database. Our guide to how websites detect proxies walks through the other checks.

Why do free Italian proxies fail?

The few that work carry flags. Since May 13, 2026, our tracker has seen 3,940 Italian addresses on public free proxy lists, and 1,418 of them worked at least once. On October 26, 11 were working.

Two of those ran on datacenter networks and one on Fastweb. The rest sat on small providers such as HALSERVICE and Megaweb. An IP reputation check had flagged all 11 as a proxy, VPN or Tor exit, and all 11 had reports of recent abuse. Keep them for a quick test. Our free proxy list for Italy shows the ones working now.

How do you pay from Italy?

With a card or with crypto. A Visa or Mastercard top-up starts at $10 and a crypto one at $3. Both land in one balance that never expires. PayPal is not offered. The payment options page lists every method, and our guide to buying proxies with crypto shows what each network charges.

How much traffic does an Italian job use?

Plan for roughly 380 full desktop pages per GB. In HTTP Archive's 2024 Page Weight chapter, the median desktop page weighed 2,652 KB and the median mobile page 2,311 KB. Plain HTML fetches and API calls cost far less, so weigh twenty pages of your own target before you buy.

Which plan fits an Italian job?

Residential Lite with Italy as the country covers most work, at $0.50/GB for one GB and $0.44 per GB at volume. Skip the free lists, since all 11 working proxies were flagged. Residential Premium is the pick for a city, one of the 157 networks or a sticky session of up to 24 hours. It costs $1.49/GB for one GB and $1.00 per GB at volume. Every tier sits on our residential proxies page.

What this page could not check

  • We measured no speed, success rate or block rate on any network, ours included.
  • We do not publish which Italian networks our exits use, or how many there are.
  • RIPE NCC's file counts addresses handed out. That is neither the addresses in use nor a count of users.
  • Operator totals rest on the network that announced each block on October 26, 2026, and cover the 13 largest records only.
  • Seller pool numbers are what each page showed on October 26, 2026, and we could not see what each one counts.
  • We will check every number here again by January 26, 2027.
