Proxy anonymity checkerelite, anonymous or transparent?

Paste any list and this tool reads the headers each proxy forwards to a server we control, then grades it elite, anonymous or transparent. It is the field that decides whether a proxy that connects perfectly still gives you away. Free, no account, no install.

The test

Read from the headers, not from a promise

A proxy's anonymity is not a setting you can trust it to report. It is decided by what it actually sends, so the only honest grade comes from reading the request on the other side.

01

Send a request we can read

We route a request through your proxy to an endpoint we control, so we see exactly which headers arrive on the far side, the same headers any website would.

02

Look for your real address

If your own IP shows up, on the wire or inside a forwarded-for header, the proxy is transparent. It works, and it hides nothing.

03

Look for the tell

If your IP is gone but a proxy header remains, it is anonymous: you are hidden, but the request admits a proxy is in the path. If nothing gives it away at all, it is elite.

The three levels

Elite, anonymous, transparent, and why it decides everything

This is the field people skip, and then wonder why a proxy that connects perfectly still got them blocked on the first request. All three work. Only one of them keeps your address to itself.

Elite

High anonymous

The proxy sends nothing that gives you away. No X-Forwarded-For, no Via, no proxy headers at all. The site sees an ordinary visitor coming from the proxy's own IP and has no header-level reason to think otherwise.

Anonymous

Hides you, announces itself

Your real IP is not forwarded, so you are not identified, but the request carries a header that says a proxy is involved. Plenty of sites treat that admission alone as a reason to challenge the request.

Transparent

Leaks your real IP

The proxy forwards your original address in a header. The site can read it, so you get none of the privacy you were after. Useful for caching, useless for anonymity.

Questions

Proxy anonymity FAQ

The things people actually ask about proxy anonymity, answered against what the checker reads. If yours is not here, the live chat on this page reaches the people who run the network.

How do I check if my proxy is anonymous?

Paste it above and run the check. For every proxy that answers on HTTP, the tool reads the headers the proxy forwarded to a server we control and grades it elite, anonymous or transparent. That is the only way to know your anonymity level, because it depends on what the proxy actually sends, not on what it claims.

What are elite, anonymous and transparent proxies?

Three levels of how much a proxy gives away. Elite forwards no proxy headers at all, so the site sees an ordinary visitor. Anonymous hides your real IP but sends a header admitting a proxy is involved. Transparent forwards your real IP, which defeats the purpose. For almost every use case you want elite.

How does a proxy leak my real IP?

Through headers it adds to your request. X-Forwarded-For, Via, X-Real-IP and a handful of others are meant to record the path a request took, and a transparent proxy writes your real address straight into one of them. The site reads it and knows exactly who you are, proxy or not. This checker looks for every one of those headers.

Which anonymity level do I need?

Elite, for anything where being seen as a proxy is a problem: account work, ad verification, price scraping on defensive targets. Anonymous is fine for ordinary pages that do not punish the mere presence of a proxy. Transparent is only useful as a plain cache and should be filtered out of anything privacy related.

Are SOCKS proxies anonymous?

SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 do not add the forwarding headers that give an HTTP proxy away, so they tend to grade well, but it still depends on the specific proxy and its operator. This checker grades SOCKS proxies the same way it grades HTTP ones, so you never have to assume.

Can a website still tell I am using a proxy if it is elite?

Headers are only one signal. Elite means the proxy leaks nothing at the header level, which closes the easiest and most common way to be spotted, but a site can also weigh the network the address sits on. A datacenter range flagged as hosting is a giveaway no header hides, which is why the checker reports the network beside the anonymity grade.

After the check

Want proxies that stay elite?Stop re-testing free lists.

A free proxy that grades elite today is shared, and the network behind it is the same one everyone else just found. If anonymity is what your work depends on, the fix is a clean pool, not a better checker.
