Why a proxy

Why use a proxy with CosLogin

CosLogin is a Firefox-based antidetect browser for Windows, macOS and Linux that gives every browser profile its own fingerprint and its own proxy, with 10 profiles free.

CosLogin keeps each profile's fingerprint apart, but profiles that leave through one IP are still one visitor to the sites they open. A separate HProxy proxy per profile keeps the accounts from being tied together by their address.

Setup

Setting up HProxy in CosLogin

  1. 1

Open the CosLogin client and open the proxy settings: Proxy IP in the left sidebar, the proxy settings while you create a browser profile, or the proxy icon in the Proxy IP column of the Browser list.

  2. 2

Under Proxy Method, select Custom Proxy, and keep the default Lookup Channel unless you prefer another one.

  3. 3

Select the proxy type your HProxy line is for: HTTP, HTTPS or Socks5.

  4. 4

Paste the line from the HProxy dashboard. It already has CosLogin's first format, host:port:username:password; username:password@host:port works too.

  5. 5

Click Check Proxy and check that the IP information shows the country you expect, then click Confirm.

Worth knowing

CosLogin also offers SSH and a direct mode with no proxy; an HProxy line is HTTP, HTTPS or Socks5. The Lookup Channel is only the service Check Proxy asks for the IP information.

The host, port and login shown here are the format; your exact values are on your dashboard, ready to copy.

CosLogin questions

Frequently asked questions

Which proxy type do I pick in CosLogin for HProxy?

The one your HProxy line is issued for. The port in the dashboard belongs to one protocol, so Socks5 with an HTTP port, or the other way round, will not connect. Match the proxy type to the line you copied.

Can I paste the whole HProxy line into CosLogin at once?

Yes. CosLogin takes a proxy as host:port:username:password, which is how the HProxy dashboard shows a line, or as username:password@host:port. Paste it with nothing extra at either end.

Why does Check Proxy fail in CosLogin?

Most often a stray space or a typo in the pasted line, a proxy type that does not match the port, or a password changed in the dashboard since you copied the line. Copy the line again from the HProxy dashboard and run Check Proxy once more.

Should several CosLogin profiles share one HProxy proxy?

Not if they are meant to look unrelated. Profiles that share an exit share an address, and the address links them whatever their fingerprints say. One profile, one proxy or one sticky session.
