TheSpeedX PROXY-List (github.com/TheSpeedX/PROXY-List) is active. On 27 September 2026 its README showed an update at 03:12 UTC that morning and "Total Proxies: 9390": 3,520 HTTP, 2,820 SOCKS4 and 3,050 SOCKS5 addresses in three text files. It costs nothing and needs no account. Its owner is plain about it. They "collected them from the Internet for easy access" and are "not in charge of these proxies". Nothing in the repository says the addresses are tested before they are published. If you want a list that checks its entries, or proxies somebody answers for, the alternatives table compares five, read the same day.

What it is, and how people use it
The repository holds three plain text files, http.txt, socks4.txt and socks5.txt, with one address and port per line. People fetch a file with a script and pass it to their tool. That is why search engines suggest "thespeedx proxy list master http txt". The README calls the list "updated from time to time", while the title says it "gets updated everyday".
The list does not rotate, test or filter anything. You get what was collected, and your tool has to find out what still works.
What we could not check
- How many addresses answer. We contacted none of them, and the repository publishes no test result.
- Where they come from. "I collected them from the Internet" is the only answer.
- Who runs the machines. The owner says outright they are "not in charge of these proxies".
- Country, speed and anonymity. The files carry none of it.
That is the nature of public proxies, not a flaw of this one list. Our own free list says it plainly: public proxies "are shared and they go down without warning", and "Most of them are already blocked by the big sites."
Where TheSpeedX is the stronger choice
- One fixed file address per protocol, easy to fetch from any script.
- A large count in three clean protocol files.
- 5.8k stars and more than 1,300 commits: a list many people already build on.
- Nothing to sign up for, and no terms to accept.

All four free lists share the limits of public proxies: shared addresses, no uptime promise, and nothing private sent through them.
Which one to pick
- You need thousands of raw addresses for a tool that tests them itself: TheSpeedX works, as long as you expect dead entries.
- You want only addresses that answered recently: a list that tests, such as Proxifly, monosans, ProxyScrape or our free proxy list.
- You need a login, a checkout or a country you can rely on: pick a paid line. HProxy Lite costs $0.50/GB for 1 GB, and Premium adds city and ISP targeting at $1.49 for one GB.

The limits of this record
We counted the files and read the pages; we did not connect to any address on any list. The counts change with every update, and so do the claims of the other lists. This page is due for a check by 27 December 2026.
