Proxies for Deliveroo: seven countries, the terms and the partner APIs

People reach this page with a handful of questions. Who owns Deliveroo now, and since when? Which countries does it still serve, and what happened in Singapore and Qatar? Does a proxy or a VPN help? And how do you get its data? This page answers from what the two firms published, the London Stock Exchange notice of the takeover, and what the sites showed our server on September 28 and October 13, 2026.

The short answer: DoorDash bought Deliveroo for 180 pence a share and closed the deal on October 2, 2025. It now runs sites in seven markets. Its Singapore site says it no longer operates there, and its Qatar address no longer resolves. Its terms name IP masking as a way of gaming offers, and its APIs are for partners.

Deliveroo and DoorDash, from the offer to seven countries

Its ownership changed hands in the open. Amazon's stake came first. On August 4, 2020, after an in-depth review, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority "cleared Amazon’s 16% investment in Deliveroo after finding that it will not substantially lessen competition".

DoorDash announced its offer on May 6, 2025. "Under the terms of the Acquisition, Deliveroo Shareholders will be entitled to receive 180 pence in cash per Deliveroo Share", and the terms valued the company "at approximately £2.9 billion". The release also noted that "Deliveroo operates in nine countries, all of which are new for DoorDash".

The takeover ran as a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under UK company law. The London Stock Exchange notice of October 2, 2025, says the scheme "has now become Effective in accordance with its terms". Shareholders on the register at 6:00 p.m. the day before "will be entitled to receive 180 pence in cash for each Deliveroo Share held by them at that time". Trading in the shares "was suspended with effect from 7.30 a.m. today", and the end of their trading on the exchange was "expected to take effect at 8:00 a.m. (London time) on 3 October 2025". So the last price for a share is the 180 pence DoorDash paid.

On February 25, 2026, DoorDash announced it "is exiting four countries across its Deliveroo and Wolt brands: Qatar, Singapore, Japan, and Uzbekistan." Qatar and Singapore were on the list of nine in October 2025; Japan and Uzbekistan were Wolt markets.

Which countries, checked on October 13, 2026

The UK front page links seven country sites. We sent one plain request to each of the nine sites it had in October 2025, from our server in the United States.

Seven sites answered with their normal front pages. The Singapore site answered with a notice: "Deliveroo no longer operates in Singapore". It adds: "We are leaving Singapore, for now, but want to thank everyone we have worked with." The name deliveroo.qa no longer resolved at all, so a request for it went nowhere.

Search interest followed the news. In February 2026, the month of the exit, "deliveroo singapore" drew 49,500 searches, up from 3,600 in January. By September it was back to 1,000.

Do you need a proxy to open Deliveroo?

No. The sites opened for our server in the United States without one. On September 28, 2026, we sent plain requests with a browser user agent and no JavaScript.

The front page says: "Enter a postcode to see what we deliver". The terms explain why the postcode matters: "Each Partner has a prescribed delivery area". An order outside that area, or outside opening hours, is not possible. The robots.txt file asks crawlers to stay out of the /api/ and graphql paths, accounts, orders and the login page.

What the terms say

The Terms of Service were last updated on October 6, 2026. On accounts they are plain: "You must use your own, valid email address, and can have only one email address per account and only one account per customer." The October version adds that it may suspend or close an account "if we believe that your account has been used by someone else". It also brings in robot delivery. In selected places, it "may offer to deliver your order using an autonomous delivery robot instead of a rider".

The terms for vouchers and account credit describe proxy use without the word. They list ways to "manipulate our Site and our offers of Credits", among them "masking identity by manipulating IP addresses, using identities other than their own or any other automated means". Such an attempt makes the order and the credit invalid, and the account may be closed. The terms for restaurant offers in Deliveroo Plus carry the same list.

The terms of use for the website add a general rule. You may not "access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt" any part of the site or the service.

The official route for data: the partner APIs

The developer portal offers three suites of APIs. The Partner Platform Suite covers "Essential APIs for running a restaurant on Deliveroo". The Retail Platform Suite serves grocers, and the Signature Suite builds a custom delivery site.

The portal terms set who gets in. Access is "on a temporary, invitation-only basis". The sandbox lets a partner send and receive test data. It also helps a partner decide whether to go live, which needs "a separate agreement with Deliveroo". The API reference answered our server with HTTP 403 and a page titled "Hello there, human!", so we could not read it. For an API key, the route is the portal: an invitation, then an agreement as a partner.

Nothing on this page sends an order through a proxy. The site opened without one, and the terms treat IP masking for offers as manipulation. The limits of this page

We made plain requests without scripts, from one server in the United States, on September 28 and October 13, 2026. We did not enter a postcode, log in, order, or test whether the site detects a VPN or a proxy. The robots.txt file asks crawlers to stay out of the legal page too; we opened it as a reader would, to quote the terms. The API reference was closed to our server. DoorDash's releases come from archived copies, because its investor site answered our server with a bot check. The London Stock Exchange notice was read through the data address its own page calls. Neither the Singapore nor the Qatar site gives a date for its closing. This page is due for a check by January 13, 2027.
