Agoda is the hotel site of Asia, and it is one of the harder travel sites to read for free, because it fails a free proxy on two independent counts at once. We run a free proxy list and a verification engine, so we measured it: 120 fresh free proxies, one Agoda page each, counted by outcome. None returned real content, and even the ones that connected would have met a page with no listings on it. This is the measured version; the paid setup is in proxies for Agoda.
We pointed 120 free proxies at Agoda
On 24 August 2026, as part of a wider travel-site test, we took 120 HTTP proxies from our own free proxy list, each verified alive minutes earlier, and asked every one to load an Agoda search page.
None returned real content. Seventeen were stopped by a bot challenge, and one hundred and three could not complete the request at all.

Why free proxies fail on Agoda, twice over
The Agoda result is worse than the raw number, because a second wall waits behind the first.
The connection wall. One hundred and three of 120 freshly verified proxies never completed the request. That is the ordinary cost of free: the proxy dies between the liveness check and the use. Seventeen more reached Agoda and were challenged, because Agoda flags the shared datacenter addresses free proxies come from.
The JavaScript wall. Even a free proxy that loaded an Agoda page would not get the prices, because Agoda builds its property cards in the browser with JavaScript and loads them only as you scroll. A plain proxy fetch returns a near-empty shell, the trap we cover in proxies for Agoda. So the reach number overstates the useful result: reaching Agoda's page is not the same as reading its listings.
The market wall. Agoda is strongest in Asia and localizes prices by the visitor's country, so reading the price a guest in a given market sees needs an in-market residential IP anyway. A free datacenter proxy is the wrong country profile as well as the wrong lifespan.
The free pool behind the result
The short lifespans are the pool, not the luck of the draw. Our free proxy data study, from 129M checks across 590K tracked proxies, finds the working free pool overwhelmingly on cloud networks, a few thousand alive at any moment and churning constantly. Against Agoda's datacenter distrust, client-side rendering and Asian-market localization, that pool is the wrong tool three times.
What free proxies are genuinely good for here
They are right for throwaway, website-only checks where failure costs nothing: seeing whether Agoda loads from another country, confirming a price looks different in another market before you pay to measure it, or learning how a proxy plugs into a browser. Test a candidate with our free proxy checker before trusting it, and read are free proxies safe first.
Free versus paid for Agoda
| What you are trying to do | Free proxy | Paid residential + browser |
|---|---|---|
| Open one page from another country | Sometimes, briefly | Reliably |
| Return the property listings | No, JavaScript not run | Yes, browser renders them |
| Read an Asian-market price | No, wrong IP profile | Yes, pinned to the market |
| Run a schedule | No, dies in minutes | Yes, stable pool |
| Cost | $0 plus your time | From $0.44/GB, pay as you go |
When the job outgrows free
The moment you need listings from a market you choose, more than once, you need what a free proxy is not: a residential address that stays alive and reads as a local guest, plus a real browser to render the cards. At $0.44/GB pay as you go, no KYC and no expiring balance, ours make a test run cost cents. The setup is in proxies for Agoda, and the wider picture is in free proxies versus travel sites. Use our free proxy list for the throwaway checks it is genuinely good at.
