A Hong Kong IP comes from a Hong Kong internet provider, and the city has many of them. A residential proxy sends your traffic out through one of their customer lines. Sites then show you Hong Kong dollar prices, local search results and the ads that run there.
Hong Kong's address space is spread out: 967 holders share its 14.6 million IPv4 addresses, against 30 in Morocco. The two largest groups, HKT and HKBN, hold about 16% each. Seller pools equal 6.5% of the registry at most. And 21 of the 31 working free Hong Kong proxies on our list ran in datacenters on October 26, 2026. Our residential proxies target Hong Kong at $0.50/GB for one GB.
Which networks does a Hong Kong IP come from?
APNIC, the internet registry for the Asia Pacific region, lists every block it gives out, with the holder's country. Its file, with records to October 24, 2026, lists 14,595,648 IPv4 addresses for Hong Kong, in 2,838 blocks held by 967 holders:
HKT's records carry the Netvigator name, one of them marked "Mass Internet". HKBN holds one record under its own name and two under HKBN Enterprise Solutions. HGC, PCCW Global, Hong Kong Cable Television and the mobile operator SmarTone follow. At the bottom, 910 holders with 16,384 addresses or fewer share 13.4%, more than HGC holds.
Routing data shows the same names behind the networks. We asked RIPEstat which network announces each block of the nine largest records. HKT's Netvigator records run on HKT Limited's network and on PCCW IMS, the PCCW Business Internet Access network. HGC's network also announces 151,552 addresses of DXTL's record.
Our Hong Kong proxies page lists 66 networks for Residential Premium, Hong Kong Broadband Network and SmarTone Mobile Communications among them. It also lists 72 cities across 20 regions, such as Victoria, Sha Tin and Wong Tai Sin.
IPv6 is rare there. APNIC Labs measured 9.3% of Hong Kong users as IPv6-capable in the 30 days to October 23, 2026, against 7.5% a year earlier. In our Taiwan guide, the same measure stands at 59.7%.
What do Hong Kong pools add up to?
Small shares of the registry. We read five sellers' Hong Kong pages through our server on October 26, 2026, and divided each number by the 14.6 million:
The chart takes Bright Data's 942,143 from its page title. Its text reads 235,535 Hong Kong IPs, a quarter of the title's count.
Bright Data's title figure, 942,143, is more than four times the next claim. Oxylabs puts 176,964 on a page offering residential or datacenter proxies. DataImpulse's counters showed 6,146 unique Hong Kong IPs in 24 hours, 46,020 in 30 days and 2,306 active at once. We do not publish our own pool size per country.
What changes with a Hong Kong IP?
Sites answer as they would answer someone in Hong Kong. Google's help page says "IP addresses are roughly based on geography" and that location "helps to show you nearby results". Residential Lite sets the country at the lowest rate. Residential Premium can hold a line in one area or on one of the 66 networks, chosen by its AS number.
Proxy traffic still meets each site's own rules. MaxMind, an IP data vendor, flags suspected residential proxies in its Anonymous IP database. Our guide to how websites detect proxies covers the other checks.
Why do free Hong Kong proxies fail?
Most run in datacenters, and nearly all carry flags. Our tracker has logged 7,398 Hong Kong addresses from public free proxy lists since May 13, 2026, and 3,432 worked at least once. On October 26, 31 were working.
21 of those sat on datacenter networks such as Tencent, Alibaba and UCloud, and 2 on Hong Kong Cable Television. An IP reputation check had flagged 30 of the 31 and reported 30 for recent abuse. Our free proxy list for Hong Kong shows the live ones, which suit a quick test.
How do you pay from Hong Kong?
By card or crypto. A Visa or Mastercard top-up starts at $10, a crypto one at $3, and both go into one balance that never expires. PayPal is not offered. Our payment options page lists every method, and our guide to buying proxies with crypto compares the networks' fees.
How much traffic does a Hong Kong job use?
Expect about 380 full desktop pages per GB. HTTP Archive's 2024 Page Weight chapter found a median desktop page of 2,652 KB and a median mobile page of 2,311 KB. Requests for text alone weigh far less, so weigh twenty pages of your own target first.
Which plan fits a Hong Kong job?
Residential Lite with Hong Kong as the country covers most jobs, at $0.50/GB for one GB and $0.44 per GB at volume. The free lists are mostly flagged datacenter IPs, so keep them for tests. Residential Premium adds the 72 cities, the 66 networks and sticky sessions of up to 24 hours. It costs $1.49/GB for one GB and $1.00 per GB at volume. Every tier is on our residential proxies page.
What this page could not check
- We tested no speed, success rate or block rate on any network, ours included.
- We do not publish which Hong Kong networks our exits use, or how many there are.
- APNIC's file counts addresses handed out. That is neither the addresses in use nor a count of users.
- Company groups follow the names in the records, and smaller records of the same companies sit in the tail.
- Seller pool numbers are what each page showed on October 26, 2026, and we could not check what each one counts.
- We will check every number on this page again by January 26, 2027.
