Glassdoor is known for a high blocking rate and rate-limits per IP with 403s when an address asks for too much too fast. Separately, its reviews are public without login, but the front end limits how many are visible and sometimes gates the view behind a modal overlay. So a naive fetch can return HTTP 200 and still record only a partial page.
That combination is the specific trap here. The fix is to treat a short result as a soft block to investigate rather than a complete record, and to drive a real browser so the modal and the dynamic content actually resolve.
Where the data actually lives
A clean residential IP solves reputation, not a library user-agent, discarded cookies, an automation fingerprint, or a scraper that ignores the review-count modal and saves a partial page as complete.
