The page called itself "China Proxy - Free China Proxy". Underneath it was PHProxy, the same free script the rest of the directory ran.

Somebody submitted it to workingproxysites.com 8 years ago, and that listing counted 2,885 clicks through to it.
How it ended
We sampled the archive's first and last captures rather than all 13: it was working in 19 July 2019 and the archive kept visiting until 21 June 2025.
Where the address points now
We checked chinaproxy.asia on 10 September 2026 from our own server. No address comes back for it at all, so a browser gives up before it can ask for a page.
The registry has no record of the name any more, which means the registration itself lapsed rather than the site simply going quiet.
The replacement
What this site did, a page you browse through, is worth less now than a list you can test. Our free China proxy list carries a last-checked time on every entry and re-verifies every few minutes; the checker tests any single address you bring.
None of that makes free proxies reliable. They are shared, so targets have seen the address before, and they hold no session, which breaks logins.
What this page cannot tell you
Why it stopped is not in the record. A dead name and an archive that runs out show that something ended, not the reason for it, and we will not put a reason in print that the record does not carry.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
