Every media buyer asks the same question before spending: what is already working for someone else? Ad spy tools answer it by collecting the ads competitors run and showing which ones last. PrimeSpy is one of them, built around the Meta Ad Library and TikTok, with a free plan that is enough to try it properly.
This article covers what PrimeSpy does, what its plans include, who it suits, and the one step most ad research skips: opening a competitor's ad and landing page from the country it runs in.
Disclosure: PrimeSpy and HProxy list each other on our partners pages since 15 October 2026. Every fact about PrimeSpy below is from its own website, read on 15 October 2026.
What PrimeSpy does
PrimeSpy describes itself as "a free ad spy and competitor ad analysis tool that supports ad monitoring across Meta, Facebook, TikTok, and Google". In practice, its work splits into three jobs.
Finding ads. Smart Search takes a keyword, a URL or an advertiser's name and returns matching ads from the Meta Ad Library across all placements. Each result shows the ad, the advertiser, the country, the date it started and whether it is still active, plus PrimeSpy's figures for reach and spend. Filters narrow the results by country, ad type and niche, and a Daily Top Products list surfaces products whose ads are gaining traction.
Studying ads. PrimeSpy's homepage says it compares advertiser audiences, placements, running time and funnel patterns "without switching tools". Pro adds ad detail insights, full Meta analytics and TikTok ads analytics, and creatives can be downloaded without a limit, which is how most teams build a swipe file for their next test.
Tracking competitors. An ad tracker follows one advertiser and collects its new ads as they launch, so a competitor's next campaign shows up without a new search. The free plan has 2 trackers and Pro has 20.
PrimeSpy's homepage puts its scale at more than 120 million ads, 1.2 billion ads analyzed and 90 countries and regions. Those are its own figures; we have not measured them.
Who it suits
PrimeSpy names eight workflows on its homepage, each with its own angle:
| Workflow | What PrimeSpy says it helps with |
|---|---|
| Ecommerce and DTC | product angles, competitor ads, the next creative test |
| Dropshipping | products and creatives gaining traction before you test them |
| TikTok Shop | fast-moving products, seller trends and ad ideas |
| Apps | acquisition ads, messaging angles and landing page cues |
| Games | UA creatives, playable angles and top ads across titles |
| Short drama | how drama apps package hooks, storylines and offers |
| AI SaaS | how AI tools frame demos, benefits and offers |
| Arbitrage | traffic patterns, ad angles and landing pages worth testing |
The common thread is a team that launches often and wants to start from evidence instead of a blank brief.

The step after the ad library: seeing the ad from its country
An ad library tells you what an advertiser ran and where. It does not show you what a user in that country gets after the click. Landing pages change by country: the price switches currency, the offer changes, a product sold out in one market is in stock in another, and some pages redirect visitors from outside the target market to a different page altogether. Open a German advertiser's landing page from an office in Spain and you may be studying a page no German customer ever saw.
The fix is to make the visit from the country itself. A residential proxy gives your browser an IP address from a home connection in the country you choose, so the ad platform and the landing page treat you as a local visitor.
A workable routine:
- Find the ad in PrimeSpy and note its country and landing page.
- Pick a residential proxy in that country. On HProxy, the country is part of the proxy username, so switching from Germany to Brazil is a change of one word in the login.
- Keep one address for the session. A sticky session holds the same IP while you click through the funnel, so prices and offers do not shift between pages.
- Open the landing page through the proxy in a separate browser profile, and save what you see next to the ad in your swipe file.
- Repeat per market. The same advertiser often runs different pages in different countries, and the differences are the useful part.
Our guide to proxies for ad verification goes deeper into checking ads by location, and our setup guides show where the proxy goes in each browser and antidetect tool.
The short version
PrimeSpy is a quick way to see which ads competitors run on Meta and TikTok, with a free plan that covers real research and a Pro plan at $9.99 a month that does not renew by itself. Pair it with a residential proxy in the market you study, and you see both halves of a competitor's campaign: the ad, and the page their customers actually land on.
