FunCaptcha, the challenge product of Arkose Labs, is the one modern system that leans back into the visible puzzle, and it does so with a specific economic theory. Rather than trying to be invisible, it presents interactive challenges, rotate the animal until it faces the right way, pick the image matching a prompt, that are deliberately awkward to automate and are varied constantly so that solving one does not teach you the next. The point is to make large-scale solving expensive, not merely to detect a bot once.

Behind the puzzle is the same scoring machinery as everywhere else, which is the part people miss. Arkose profiles the session first, address reputation, fingerprint, behaviour, and calibrates the challenge to the risk: a trusted-looking visitor may get a single easy puzzle or none, while a suspicious one is handed harder and repeated challenges.
