Somebody searching for InCloak today is usually one of two people: a customer who cannot log in, or a buyer who found an old review. This page is for both, and it starts with the dates.

What the site does today

Every request we made on 9 September 2026 failed, the last with timeout. Nothing responds on that name over either protocol.

The last working page the archive caught was in December 2016, out of 58 good snapshots. Coverage is not continuous, so read it as roughly when.

What the last capture shows

Archived December 2016, the page called itself "inCloak.com - Free Web Proxy and Privacy Tools". The heading on the page was "Free Web Proxy".

Preserved copy has one advantage over a live page: it cannot be edited after the fact. What it shows is the promise, not the product.

The archive first captured a working page in January 2012.

So the business existed and had a product. Whether it was any good is not something the record can settle.

The registration record

Registration goes back to 11 May 2011, with Registrar R01 LLC as registrar. So the domain has existed for some 15 years. Registration runs to 11 May 2027. Somebody is still paying for a name that serves nothing. Those dates come from a registry lookup on 23 April 2026.

Search demand has not caught up with the shutdown. About 10 searches a month still carry the name, read 9 September 2026.

What this page cannot tell you is the reason. Companies close for ordinary reasons far more often than dramatic ones, and the public record does not distinguish between them. Everything above is a date or a capture; none of it is a motive.

Picking a replacement

Practical first step for a former customer: stop any recurring payment at your bank rather than on their site, since their site is not there to stop it on. Then check your dispute window.

For the replacement itself, the useful rule is to keep your prepaid exposure small until a provider has earned more. Is InCloak really gone?
We re-checked the domain on 9 September 2026 over https, www and plain http. Nothing answered on any of them. That is evidence of a shutdown rather than proof of one, and it is the strongest evidence the public web offers.
What happened to InCloak?
We do not know, and we will not guess in public. The record shows when the site stopped being captured and that it no longer answers. It says nothing about the reason, and every confident explanation of a small provider's shutdown that we have read traces back to a forum rumour.
Can I get my money back?
If the payment is recent enough to fall inside your card scheme's dispute window, a chargeback is usually the only realistic route once a provider stops answering. Cancel any recurring authority at your bank rather than on their site, and keep receipts and support threads as evidence.
What should I use instead of InCloak?
Weight the terms as heavily as the price, because an expiring balance and a large minimum top-up are what turn a shutdown into a real loss. Whatever you shortlist, run a small paid test on your own target before moving volume, and keep prepaid exposure small until a provider has earned more.
