ProxFree alternatives: what to check before you switch

Weighing up ProxFree? What is actually published, what it does not tell you, and how to settle the decision on your own target for a few dollars.

Free proxies won't hold up here.

Shared datacenter IPs get flagged and dropped fast. When it has to hold, gaming, streaming, accounts, you need mobile and residential IPs that read as a real device, from $0.44/GB, pay as you go.

Residential proxies

The answer to "what should I use instead of ProxFree" depends entirely on why you are leaving. Price, a commitment, a country, a support experience and a blocked target all point at different replacements.

Everything we can stand behind

Their site is proxfree.com.

We price the providers we can source and date, and ProxFree is not currently one of them. The rest of this page is about what to check when you read their pricing yourself.

Take down four numbers and a date: reachable rate, minimum purchase, commitment for the floor rate, and expiry period. Anything less and you cannot compare them to anyone.

The site, as it reads today

On 9 September 2026 the site introduced itself as "Free Web Proxy, Unblock Any Website Anonymously - ProxFree". Written for search engines, their description says: "ProxFree is a free web proxy that lets you unblock websites and browse anonymously. Multiple server locations, SSL encryption, and no software to install."

Also on the page, stated plainly:

We found no separate pricing page linked from the homepage, which usually means the price arrives by quotation.

That is the vendor speaking, not us. We print it because a claim with a date attached is at least falsifiable.

Age, and why it matters here

The domain was registered on 28 May 2011, through NameSilo, LLC, which makes it about 15 years old. We pulled that from the registry on 23 April 2026. The Internet Archive holds 20 snapshots of the site, the earliest from April 2007. The current registration term ends 28 May 2027.

None of it predicts success rate. It is here because domain age and archive depth are free to check, and a provider whose public record starts last quarter deserves a smaller first order.

Whether anyone is still working on it

Our crawl of their site found 50 pages carrying a date. The oldest is from February 2026 and the newest from February 2026. 50 of them carry a date inside the last twelve months.

Timestamps are not quality, and a company still publishing is at least a company still trading. That is worth more than it sounds in a market where providers disappear without notice.

What the search data says about ProxFree

Worldwide, the brand carries about 50 searches a month: 40 a month for an alternative to them and 10 a month for a review of them. Figures read from Google Keyword Planner on 9 September 2026.

The largest share is people looking for a way out, which is the honest starting point for a page like this one.

What a pricing page leaves out

Shared or dedicated changes everything

An address you share carries the reputation of everyone else on it. That is acceptable for some work and fatal for anything involving a login. The price difference between shared and dedicated usually reflects exactly this.

Who pays for the requests that fail

On a hard target, failures are the majority of your traffic. Whether those failures are billed decides the real cost, and the clause covering it is rarely on the pricing page.

The limit that stops the job

Rate limits are often enforced per account rather than per plan, which means buying more traffic does not raise them. Confirm how yours scales before you assume a bigger plan runs faster.

The rows that decide it

Here are the comparisons that survive contact with a real workload:

What to do instead of reading more comparisons

The steps below take about ten minutes and settle the question properly.

  1. Put a few dollars on each account. Trials are fine for a first look, but paid traffic is what you will actually be buying.
  2. Run them against the site you actually care about, using the code you actually run, within the same hour.
  3. Track the success rate and the bandwidth. A cheap gigabyte that fails half the time is not cheap.
  4. Run a sample of the addresses through an independent lookup, because advertised geography and actual geography differ more often than the market admits.
  5. Choose on the measurement, not the marketing, and expect the answer to change within a year.

Where else buyers look

If this one does not fit, these are the nearest comparable providers we have written up, each on the same terms as this page.

Our own position

Our end of it is a wallet, four proxy types and no contract. Residential begins at $0.44 per GB and the balance does not expire. The free proxy list and checker are open to anyone, and they are the fastest way to see how we treat measurement before you spend anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cheaper provider usually worse?
Not reliably. Price in this market reflects the supply model and the sales overhead as much as the network. What price does not tell you is the success rate on your target, and that is the figure that decides whether the cheaper option was cheap or expensive. Measure before assuming either way.
How is HProxy different?
The models differ more than the products do. HProxy is pay as you go from a balance you top up when you want, the balance does not expire, there is no subscription unless the optional discount suits you, and residential starts at $0.44 per GB with city and ISP targeting included. Whether that beats a tiered plan depends on your usage pattern, which a short test settles.
Do I have to talk to sales or sign a contract to switch?
Not with us. You can sign up, add funds and send traffic without a call, a minimum or a subscription. Whether another provider requires any of those is on their own pricing page and is worth reading, because a required commitment is part of the price even when it is not part of the rate.
How often should I re-test a provider?
Quarterly is a reasonable rhythm for most workloads, and immediately after a noticeable drop in success rate. Pools are rebuilt, suppliers change and detection improves, so a benchmark from last year describes a network that no longer exists.
Does a bigger pool mean better results?
No. Your job meets only the exits it draws, in the countries it needs, against one target's defences. Freshness and rotation policy move the outcome far more than the headline total, and pool totals across this market are counted generously and rarely audited.

Proxies that don't die mid-job

Residential, ISP, datacenter and mobile, verified by the same engine that runs tens of millions of checks. They read as a real device and hold up under load. Pay as you go, and your balance never expires. $0.44/GB is the 2,000 GB+ rate; a single gigabyte is $0.50/GB, with no minimum order.
