proxy4free.us does not exist any more. The name stopped resolving, so a browser cannot even find a server to ask, and the last time anything answered there was April 2016.
What it was
The Internet Archive's first working copy of proxy4free.us is from April 2012 and it holds 14 days of captures in total.
The page called itself "New Free Proxies". It ran on Glype, the script behind most free web proxies of that era.
There is also the risk that the highly anonymous "free" proxy is actually set up by a hacker looking to get your private info like credit card number.
That is the site's own description, from the capture of 7 April 2012.
It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 13 years ago, and that listing counted 497 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as United States.
When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 9 April 2016 and the archive kept visiting until 26 June 2017.
By 26 June 2017 the same address answered with something else: the capture from that day is titled "Proxy4free.us Check Discount Price For Sales Cheap Discount".
What the name does today
We checked proxy4free.us on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The name does not resolve: there is no address behind it, so nothing can be served from it.
What still works
The replacement for a dead web proxy is not another name to remember. Our free proxy list shows when each entry was last checked and re-verifies every few minutes, and the checker tests an address you bring yourself.
Free proxies stay shared and short lived. For opening a blocked page that is usually enough, and for anything that has to work at a particular moment it is not.
What this page cannot tell you
The record shows when, not why. Nothing public says whether the operator lost interest, lost the hosting, or simply moved on, so this page does not guess.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
