Typing videoproxy.xyz today gets you a parking page put there by whoever holds the name. The proxy behind it stopped being captured after May 2024.
What it was
The Internet Archive's first working copy of videoproxy.xyz is from March 2015 and it holds 30 days of captures in total.
The page called itself "Video Proxy Site Unblock Youtube Proxy". It ran on PHProxy, the script behind most free web proxies of that era.
We try to make sure our users can unblock sites like YouTube and Facebook with speed, including other video sites.
That is the site's own description, from the capture of 20 May 2024.
It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 12 years ago, and that listing counted 334 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as Singapore.
When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 20 May 2024 and the archive kept visiting until 10 July 2025.
What the name does today
We checked videoproxy.xyz on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers, and the page is titled "videoproxy.xyz".
The registry record shows the name was registered again on 12 May 2026 and is paid until 12 May 2027 through CommuniGal Communication Ltd. Its name servers are ns15.abovedomains.com and ns16.abovedomains.com. Whoever holds it now took it after the proxy had already stopped.
People still look for it: 30 searches a month for the name, according to Google's Keyword Planner read on 10 September 2026.
What still works
The replacement for a dead web proxy is not another name to remember. Our free proxy list shows when each entry was last checked and re-verifies every few minutes, and the checker tests an address you bring yourself.
Free proxies stay shared and short lived. For opening a blocked page that is usually enough, and for anything that has to work at a particular moment it is not.
What this page cannot tell you
The record shows when, not why. Nothing public says whether the operator lost interest, lost the hosting, or simply moved on, so this page does not guess.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
