The page called itself "Hem - USProxy". The directory recorded it as a PHProxy install, which is what nearly all of these sites were.

It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 12 years ago, and that listing counted 359 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as United States.

What the name does today
We checked usproxy.nu on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The name does not resolve: there is no address behind it, so nothing can be served from it.
People still look for it: 10 searches a month for the name, according to Google's Keyword Planner read on 10 September 2026.
Where to go from here
A list with a visible last-checked time beats a remembered domain. Ours re-verifies every few minutes; the checker tests a single address if you would rather bring your own.
Expect what free has always meant: shared addresses that targets recognise, and no session persistence, which breaks anything behind a login.
What this page cannot tell you
Why it stopped is not in the record. A dead name and an archive that runs out show that something ended, not the reason for it, and we will not put a reason in print that the record does not carry.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
