turkeyproxy.com is somebody else's site now. The address answers, but what loads has nothing to do with the proxy that used to be there, whose last working capture dates to August 2014.
What it was
The Internet Archive's first working copy of turkeyproxy.com is from December 2006 and it holds 59 days of captures in total.
The page called itself "Turkey Proxy - Online Anonymizer". It ran on PHProxy, the script behind most free web proxies of that era.
You are virtually in Turkey with us at one time and allow you to browse anonymously online.
That is the site's own description, from the capture of 15 August 2014.
It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 10 years ago, and that listing counted 282 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as Turkey.
When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 15 August 2014 and the archive kept visiting until 28 December 2021.
What the name does today
We checked turkeyproxy.com on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers, and the page is titled "TurkeyProxy - Premium Türkiye Proxy | IPv4, ISP, Datacenter".
What still works
The replacement for a dead web proxy is not another name to remember. Our free proxy list shows when each entry was last checked and re-verifies every few minutes, and the checker tests an address you bring yourself.
Free proxies stay shared and short lived. For opening a blocked page that is usually enough, and for anything that has to work at a particular moment it is not.
What this page cannot tell you
Why it stopped is not in the record. A dead name and an archive that runs out show that something ended, not the reason for it, and we will not put a reason in print that the record does not carry.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
