proxywiky.com may still be running, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The Internet Archive saved a working page from it on 14 June 2026, while our own request from a data centre got no answer at all.
The site it used to be
The Internet Archive's first working copy of proxywiky.com is from July 2008 and it holds 112 days of captures in total.
The page called itself "ProxyWiky.com - The Proxy Encyclopedia / Top Proxy". It ran on Glype, the script behind most free web proxies of that era.
A directory of free web proxies, workingproxysites.com, took the listing 12 years ago, and the directory counted 270 clicks on it. The listing places it in France.
When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 14 July 2008 and the archive kept visiting until 14 June 2026.
What answers there now
We checked proxywiky.com on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers with no answer.
The registry record shows the name was registered on 9 March 2026 and is paid until 9 March 2027 through GMO Internet Group, Inc. d/b/a Onamae.com. Its name servers are luciana.ns.cloudflare.com and nikon.ns.cloudflare.com.
What still works
The replacement for a dead web proxy is not another name to remember. Our free proxy list shows when each entry was last checked and re-verifies every few minutes, and the checker tests an address you bring yourself.
Free proxies stay shared and short lived. For opening a blocked page that is usually enough, and for anything that has to work at a particular moment it is not.
What we could not establish
No public document explains the ending. We can date it and describe it; anything about motive would be invention, and this page prints none.
This is a single reading from a single vantage point. A proxy that turns away data centre addresses would give us the same silence as a proxy that no longer exists. We recheck by 1 January 2027.
