Skip the dead lists.

Our free proxy list re-checks every exit every few minutes across 100+ countries, with a live last-checked time, so you copy IPs that worked moments ago, not a stale text dump.

proxyjapan.nu is gone in the most literal sense: the name itself no longer exists in the domain system. The last page anyone saved from it dates to May 2022.

What it was

The Internet Archive's first working copy of proxyjapan.nu is from May 2015 and it holds 452 days of captures in total.

The page called itself "Proxy Japan - Web Proxy Server in Japan". Underneath it was PHProxy, the same free script the rest of the directory ran.

IP protection through the Japan web proxy works behind the internet filters on your school or office network.

That is the site's own description, from the capture of 6 May 2015.

It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 12 years ago, and that listing counted 325 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as United States.

When it stopped

The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 7 May 2022.

What the name does today

We checked proxyjapan.nu on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The name does not resolve: there is no address behind it, so nothing can be served from it.

People still look for it: 10 searches a month for the name, according to Google's Keyword Planner read on 10 September 2026.

What to use instead

Use a list somebody keeps checking rather than a name that used to work. Our free proxy list is re-verified every few minutes, and an address that stops answering leaves it instead of sitting there for years. If you already have an address, the proxy checker will tell you whether it still relays anything.

The limits of free are the same everywhere, ours included: the addresses are shared, so the sites that care have seen them before, and there is no session to hold, so logins break part way through.

What this page cannot tell you

Why it stopped is not in the record. A dead name and an archive that runs out show that something ended, not the reason for it, and we will not put a reason in print that the record does not carry.

Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Is proxyjapan.nu still working?
No. The name no longer resolves, which we checked on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The last working page the Internet Archive holds is from May 2022.
What was proxyjapan.nu?
A free web proxy running the PHProxy script. Its own page said: IP protection through the Japan web proxy works behind the internet filters on your school or office network.
What can I use instead of proxyjapan.nu?
A list that is re-checked rather than a name someone remembers. Our free proxy list is re-verified every few minutes, so entries that stop answering drop off it. Free proxies stay shared and short lived, so anything behind a login will still break.
