Hiproxy.net is gone: what the record shows, and what to use

Hiproxy.net was a free web proxy the archive first saved in January 2007. What it was, when it stopped, what the name does today, and a list that is still checked.

Skip the dead lists.

Our free proxy list re-checks every exit every few minutes across 100+ countries, with a live last-checked time, so you copy IPs that worked moments ago, not a stale text dump.

Typing hiproxy.net today gets you a parking page put there by whoever holds the name. The proxy behind it stopped being captured after July 2025.

What it was

The Internet Archive's first working copy of hiproxy.net is from January 2007 and it holds 82 days of captures in total.

The page called itself "hiproxy.net - Diese Website steht zum Verkauf! - Informationen zum Thema hiproxy.". The directory recorded it as a PHProxy install, which is what nearly all of these sites were.

Not only are you able to browse your favorite sites you are completely anonymous while doing it, hidden behind our network, your identity is protected and your computer is safe from hazardous online attacks on your personal information.

That is the site's own description, from the capture of 10 January 2007.

It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 10 years ago, and that listing counted 300 clicks through to it.

When it stopped

The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 14 July 2025.

What the name does today

We checked hiproxy.net on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers with parked.

Where to go from here

A list with a visible last-checked time beats a remembered domain. Ours re-verifies every few minutes; the checker tests a single address if you would rather bring your own.

Expect what free has always meant: shared addresses that targets recognise, and no session persistence, which breaks anything behind a login.

What this page cannot tell you

The record shows when, not why. Nothing public says whether the operator lost interest, lost the hosting, or simply moved on, so this page does not guess.

Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Is hiproxy.net still working?
No. The address loads, but what answers is a holding page rather than a proxy, checked on 10 September 2026. The last working capture in the Internet Archive is from July 2025.
What was hiproxy.net?
A free web proxy running the PHProxy script. Its own page said: Not only are you able to browse your favorite sites you are completely anonymous while doing it, hidden behind our network, your identity is protected and your computer is safe from hazardous online attacks on your personal information.
What can I use instead of hiproxy.net?
Start from a list with a visible last-checked time, and test the address before you rely on it. Ours is re-verified every few minutes and the checker tests a single address on demand.
