Careful with this one: hidefrom.com is not dead. A crawler reached it on 26 August 2026 and saved a page. Our server did not, which is what a site that blocks data centre addresses looks like from the outside.
The site it used to be
The Internet Archive's first working copy of hidefrom.com is from November 2010 and it holds 132 days of captures in total.
The page called itself "Best Free Web Proxy 2026 - Hide From You [Fast Server]". The directory recorded it as a PHProxy install, which is what nearly all of these sites were.
HideFrom.com - anonymous free web proxy site HideFrom Proxy Welcome to HideFrom Proxy , Use this web proxy to browse other sites so that you are anonymous and so you can get on sites that are blocked by your firewall.
That is the site's own description, from the capture of 20 November 2010.
A directory of free web proxies, workingproxysites.com, took the listing 14 years ago, and 23,036 people clicked through from there.
When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 19 July 2026 and the archive kept visiting until 26 August 2026.
What answers there now
We checked hidefrom.com on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers with no answer.
The registry record shows the name was registered on 17 November 2010 and is paid until 17 November 2026 through NameSilo, LLC. Its name servers are ns1.dnsowl.com and ns2.dnsowl.com.
People still look for it: 10 searches a month for the name, according to Google's Keyword Planner read on 10 September 2026.
A working replacement
The useful thing is not another proxy name, it is a list somebody re-checks. Ours drops entries the moment they stop answering, and the checker will tell you whether an address you already have still relays anything.
Free proxies remain shared and short lived, which is fine for opening one blocked page and wrong for anything that has to hold a session.
What we could not establish
No public document explains the ending. We can date it and describe it; anything about motive would be invention, and this page prints none.
This is a single reading from a single vantage point. A proxy that turns away data centre addresses would give us the same silence as a proxy that no longer exists. We recheck by 1 January 2027.
