What happened to goldproxy.info, and what still works

Goldproxy.info was a free web proxy the archive first saved in June 2010. What it was, when it stopped, what the name does today, and a list that is still checked.

Skip the dead lists.

Our free proxy list re-checks every exit every few minutes across 100+ countries, with a live last-checked time, so you copy IPs that worked moments ago, not a stale text dump.

goldproxy.info does not exist any more. The name stopped resolving, so a browser cannot even find a server to ask, and the last time anything answered there was April 2013.

What it was

The Internet Archive's first working copy of goldproxy.info is from June 2010 and it holds 36 days of captures in total.

The page called itself "Gold Proxy". It ran on PHProxy, the script behind most free web proxies of that era.

A proxy server is a service to allow clients to make indirect network connections to other network services.

That is the site's own description, from the capture of 6 June 2010.

It was listed on workingproxysites.com, a directory of free web proxies, 13 years ago, and that listing counted 2,555 clicks through to it. The directory recorded it as Romania.

When it stopped

The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 5 April 2013 and the archive kept visiting until 14 March 2016.

What the name does today

We checked goldproxy.info on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The name does not resolve: there is no address behind it, so nothing can be served from it.

What still works

The replacement for a dead web proxy is not another name to remember. Our free proxy list shows when each entry was last checked and re-verifies every few minutes, and the checker tests an address you bring yourself.

Free proxies stay shared and short lived. For opening a blocked page that is usually enough, and for anything that has to work at a particular moment it is not.

What this page cannot tell you

The record shows when, not why. Nothing public says whether the operator lost interest, lost the hosting, or simply moved on, so this page does not guess.

Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Is goldproxy.info still working?
No. The name no longer resolves, which we checked on 10 September 2026 from our own server. The last working page the Internet Archive holds is from April 2013.
What was goldproxy.info?
A free web proxy running the PHProxy script. Its own page said: A proxy server is a service to allow clients to make indirect network connections to other network services.
What can I use instead of goldproxy.info?
Start from a list with a visible last-checked time, and test the address before you rely on it. Ours is re-verified every few minutes and the checker tests a single address on demand.
