When it stopped
The last capture that shows the proxy itself is from 14 October 2013 and the archive kept visiting until 8 June 2019.
What the name does today
We checked free-proxy001.appspot.com on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers, and the page is titled "404 Page not found".
Where to go from here
A list with a visible last-checked time beats a remembered domain. Ours re-verifies every few minutes; the checker tests a single address if you would rather bring your own.
Expect what free has always meant: shared addresses that targets recognise, and no session persistence, which breaks anything behind a login.
What this page cannot tell you
