atproxy.mainhape.com does not answer us. The name still resolves, but nothing came back from either protocol when we asked.
The site behind the name
Atproxy.mainhape.com left very little behind. There is no archived copy of it, only the listing it was given and the state of the name now.
The directory recorded it as a Glype install, which is what nearly all of these sites were.
Somebody submitted it to workingproxysites.com 12 years ago, and 273 people clicked through from there. The directory recorded it as United States.
Where the address points now
We checked atproxy.mainhape.com on 10 September 2026 from our own server in Germany. It answers, and the page is titled "mainhape.com | 520: Web server is returning an unknown error".
The registry has no record of the name any more, which means the registration itself lapsed rather than the site simply going quiet.
A working replacement
The useful thing is not another proxy name, it is a list somebody re-checks. Ours drops entries the moment they stop answering, and the checker will tell you whether an address you already have still relays anything.
Free proxies remain shared and short lived, which is fine for opening one blocked page and wrong for anything that has to hold a session.
What this page cannot tell you
Why it stopped is not in the record. A dead name and an archive that runs out show that something ended, not the reason for it, and we will not put a reason in print that the record does not carry.
Our status check is one day from one vantage point, and a site that refuses requests from data centres would look the same as one that is switched off. We will check this page again by 1 January 2027.
